Customer Review: Focus the beam? Not quite!

I bought this one because, along with the price being good, the description said that the beam can be 'focused'. "Focusing" to ME means 'spot-to-flood'...so you can use it for close-up work, or distance viewing. Well, in the "big C" where this item is obviously made, "focus the beam" apparently means something else. Over there, it means: "direct the beam"...as in 'up-and-down'. That's all you can do with this light: either direct it straight ahead, or aim it in 'steps' down toward the ground. That's not what I had in mind. And the 'collimnator(?)' mechanism they speak of that focuses' (i.e. 'directs') the beam, is a bit fragile. So I don't expect that you'd could get a lot of wear out of it before it starts breaking-down. As for the brightness, it's fairly decent. When compared to some flashlights I have that are of a 'given/known' amount of lumens, I would guess that this headlamp puts-out about 100 lumens. The problem with the beam is that it's mostly all spot, and gives very little wide area coverage.
