Headphones are comfortable, designed to keep 60's children like myself from going deaf from blasting rock music however, very cheap weld keeping the battery compartment from making the neccessay connection to power up the radio rendering it useless. This product replaced my previous hearing protector/headphone "solution" that was regular hearing protectors sitting over ear buds in my ears. After a few hours, ouch...
My main goal was MP3 playback rather than radio use, and these fit the bill nicely. They are comfortable, and provide adequate protection for yard work type noise. Audiophile quality, they are not. The radio performance seemed adequate, but I have not tested that as thoroughly as some others here.
One drawback for MP3 playback is that they only provide a pass through, so the MP3 amplifier must drive this headset's speakers. For many small MP3 players, this will drain battery power somewhat quickly. The plus side is that no batteries are required in the headset when used this way.
All in all, I'm pleased with the purchase and would recommend these for the use I described.

The headphones are comfortable, reduce outside noise and allow you to enjoy up to 6 of your favorite radio stations. We use them while mowing lawns on our 66 inch cut mower. Makes the chore go faster while listening to the oldies. Easy to use controls while in use. They even fit under our straw hats - just cut a small hole in the brim for the antennae.Customer Review: Controls poorly designed

I agree with the majority of the reviewers about the quality of the FM receiver -- it's dismal. However I'm fortunate in that there's one tolerable station with a very strong signal nearby, so I get reception (on that one station) with very little static. All other stations are hopeless however.
The product wasn't designed with a great deal of thought as to the controls. The on-off volume control is located so that if you wear the headphones with the volume control on the right (as most right-handed people will do) it will hit your shoulder or collar as you work, changing the volume unpredictably. This is pretty dangerous as your instinct is to immediately correct the volume, not necessarily a good thing if you're working power tools. The solution it to flip the headphones so that the controls are on the left. I don't think the stereo quality of these headphones is such that flipping the left/right channels is going to make much difference to the listening experience.
A third and final note -- when the batteries get low, the earphones give off an earsplitting beep at random intervals. Given that these headphones are intended as HEARING PROTECTION, what designer thought it would be appropriate to generate a 90 decibel tone in the user's ear?
