I bought this product in order to view some of my smaller print books and study bibles as I am getting to that age where it becomes difficult to read smaller font.
With a smaller viewing area it seems more difficult to follow the flow of words on paper, but this 5 1/2" round lens definitely helps there.
The only downsides is the heaviness of the lens, which may be a problem for some, and the rubber of the comfort grip has a bit of a petroleum smell. (I put a bit of scented baby powder on my hands, and rubbed it across the grip to solve the latter problem.)
All in all a great product for the cost.

Very heavy.
Poor magnification.
Cushioned handle slips back and forth and feels as if it may come off.
No protective storage for large glass surface.

The lens or viewing area is 5 inches. The total diameter is 5.5 inches. The magnification is less than 2X. The glass is of excellent quality. It's too bad it's advertised as 3X. i am a physician and i use magnifiers to look at lesions on the skin. My big complaint is that the glass is blurry. i tried to clean it multiple times before i realized that it was polished poorly.
to make matters worse they are extremely heavy.
do not buy this product. the saying you get what you pay for is true. i bought these because they were less expensive, they are terrible.
