Often, simple is best. That is the case with the AccuSharp; a simple design that works. If used properly (not too much pressure) it does not remove too much metal from the blade. This sharpener quickly shaves off bits of metal from the knife's cutting edge, so it is great for your cheaper knives. If you have expensive knives, like Global, that should get more tlc, this is not likely your best option. I use it to keep my other knives sharp, depending on frequency of use. I find that I use it weekly for my most used knives. I think it is a great tool for the price. Use it on a dry knife away from food and wash off the metal shavings immediately to avoid eating them. I find I use this way more than the tedious sharpening stone.Customer Review: A great tool, but not for all knives.

This is without a doubt a great tool. It quickly sharpened some cheap knives I had laying around, taking them from dull to a razor's edge in minutes. However, that is not without a price.
I'm glad I used my cheaper knives to test it out, since it takes off quite a lot of metal. And by "quite a lot" I mean a substantial amount. Of course, this is how the accusharp manages to get that nice edge so quickly, but I would refrain from using this on any high-end knives.
It's great for the kitchen, great for the cheaper EDC knives, but I would refrain from using this on your antique 17th century cutlass. Or any higher priced Benchmades. It just takes off too much steel to be a feasible option. And of course, you don't have the option of angling the cut. But then again... If you're bothering to read this (or even own any more valuable knives at all), you would know this already.

For the money, this little gem is a real bargain.
One serious caveat: DO NOT use this in front of young children, or leave it in a place where they can find it. It is not dangerous when used correctly, but a small child could really hurt him/herself if they tried to imitate Mommy or Daddy sharpening the knives.

I bought it for my mother for her birthday. At first she was hesitant as she had bad experiences with other knife sharpeners. They never seemed to the job well. When she tried this at first, she broke out into tears. At first I was worried but then i realized tears of joy. She was crying because she was happy. Do not buy expensive knife sharpeners when you have something cheap and works amazing. This thing is awesome. Buy it!
