This gizmo is pretty amazing. I thought I was going to have to spend $100+ to get a decent edge on my kitchen knives, but this thing does an amazing job for the price. As another reviewer said, if you want to be able to shave with your knives keep looking, but if you want to put and keep a keen edge on most of your knives look no further. Better yet, it's extrememly easy to use and cheap enough to keep one in the kitchen (without taking up valuable counter space) and one in your tool or tackle box.
Just got it, and sharpened all of my good kitchen knives in about 5 minutes total. Sharper than they've been in a long time, and I have a lot of sharpening gadgets which will probably be on eBay tomorrow.

I have used this product on just about everything. the Cold Steel Magnum Kukri Machete which is 1055 carbon steel, it sharpened that. 1045 carbon steel Katana - it sharpened that. Gerber Bear Grylls ultimate survival knife - it sharpened that. countless kitchen knifes and folding pocket knives - child's play for this thing!!!! i've even brought this Accusharp to work and sharpened all my co workers knives!!!! this thing is amazing and i will purchase another just for back up purposes very soon!!!!!Customer Review: Amazing!!!

Amazing! No other word fits. This thing works so well you will be shocked. I've had some old dull knives in my kitchen for years that I've tried to sharpen in in so many ways. No lie: three quick swipes on AccuSharp and these knives were as sharp as I've ever seen them! Though it doesn't work as well on serrated knives, it works better on serrated knives than anything else I've ever used--again it is amazing on standard Blades. I actually get joy now out of sharpening my knives because each time I do it I am blown away by how easy it is and how well it works. I have bought some for family members and friends (a perfect inexpensive present for anyone with a kitchen) and I cannot recommend the AccuSharp any more enthusiastically.
I even tried it on some dull razor blades I had lying around (cause I'm cheap and poor and didn't want to waste money on new ones) and after a few swipes they are almost as good as new--seriously!
Now, one note: For those of you who have extremely expensive knives this tool may notbe the perfect tool for you. I am no knife sharpening expert so I really can't say for sure. I know that this sharpener easily scrapes the metal to a sharp point but when I look closely at the edges of the blades that I've sharpened I do notice that the edges are not perfectly smooth. I'm assuming that a professional sharpening would perhaps get the blades equally sharp but much smoother, helping to prolong the life of your extremely expensive knives. But for the price and the ease of use this item can't be beat! I imagine that even for those extremely expensive knives this tool might be useful for the occasional light sharpening. Awesomeness!

Simple in design and effective in execution, this knife sharpener really works. Even the cheap kitchen knife I had never succeeded in sharpening before cuts like a good knife now after some 15 passes on this sharpener. An old Swiss Army knife requires just a few passes to regain its original edge. Very impressed and strongly recommended.
