Yes, It really does work. I read the reviews before buying this. I bought two of them, gave one as a gift. I sharpened all of the knives I had throughout the house. Amazing. It brought back life to some really old knives I had laying around. Now I can slice through onions, bell peppers, etc, like no tomorrow. I am sure glad I saved my money, and not buying those expensive electric knive sharpeners. On a final note, purchase this knife from Jazebra, they shipped the product very quickly. I selected this product following the endorsement of Chris Kimball of Americas Test Kitchen TV show. It was delivered very quickly and I tried it almost immediately. Does a fine job- I could FEEL it working on a very dull blade! Just a few passes did the job, even on a serrated knife. The tool is small enough to store easily and comfortable to use. Read the directions- you put the knife on a flat surface and then stroke with the tool--not intuitive, but easy to understand and do.Customer Review: Amazing!

This gizmo is pretty amazing. I thought I was going to have to spend $100+ to get a decent edge on my kitchen knives, but this thing does an amazing job for the price. As another reviewer said, if you want to be able to shave with your knives keep looking, but if you want to put and keep a keen edge on most of your knives look no further. Better yet, it's extrememly easy to use and cheap enough to keep one in the kitchen (without taking up valuable counter space) and one in your tool or tackle box.
Just got it, and sharpened all of my good kitchen knives in about 5 minutes total. Sharper than they've been in a long time, and I have a lot of sharpening gadgets which will probably be on eBay tomorrow.

Wow! Sharpened my pocket knife in seconds. Sharpened a dull serated knife and it passed the ripe tomato test. I have several old butcher knifes my wifes granddad made, sharpened them in a few seconds each. Tried to shave the hair on my arm with one of them, it would shave! I am very impressed. Plan to buy more as birthday presents. Customer Review: Awesome!!! Put an edge on!

I bought this sharpener after reading very positive reviews from Americas Test Kitchen. I used it on a knife I recieved as a wedding present 7 years ago which has never really cut well. It was transformed into one of the sharpest knives in the kitchen. I recommend using this in conjuction with a steel. Use the steel to hone the blade before each use and use a couple swipes of this sharpener to reshape the edge every few months. Your knives will have new life!
I bought mine from my local Ace Hardware for the same price with no shipping.
