Tools and Hardware Reviews of AccuSharp Knife Sharpener With Replacement BladesCustomer Review: Excellent knife sharpener Summary: 5 Stars
I've tried many tricks for sharpening my good knives, without success. I've got one of those metal pole things and managed to use it without cutting any fingers off, but it didn't seem to do anything but make the blades less sharp. I also have a sharpening stone, which works, but it's a pain and takes a lot of time.
I love this sharpener, since it works like a charm. You run the knife though it a few times and hey presto - it's like a razor again. I use it once a month and all my knives are super sharp. If I lose mine, I'll definately get another. It's sturdy and I purchased extra blades just in case, but I've not needed them yet, and I've been using it for months. Why can't everything be this simple!
Customer Review: Excellent product for purpose! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this product almost 9 months ago because my kitchen knives were getting very dull and ten dollars did not seem like a big risk compared to nearly $200 to get my kit sharpened professionally. I could not be happier with this product!
I've used the sharpener exclusively on regular sized blades that were intended for an equal angle on each side... in other words do not use this for scissors or shears, or cleavers (the bite is too large and you'll need a grindstone to sharpen a cleaver).
For sharpening your butcher's, bread, and steak knives this is THE BEST PRODUCT out there. Take one or two STRONG pulls as the directions state, and then hone with your steel, and your knives are almost as sharp as they would be after a pro sharpened and honed them. Each set of ceramics (two sets in this product) is good for at least a year with moderate use.
The only downside to this product I can imagine is that over the course of a lifetime, your knives will wear a lot faster than if you had always elected to go to a pro. The ceramics grind in a fashion that probably pulls away more good steel than it needs to - but for me the price per year for pro sharpening services totally makes up for the extra wear inflicted from a ten-dollar product. I went from 600 dollars per year to keep my knives sharp, to about 75. If I need to replace a knife a year earlier than before, it's still way cheaper than it was yesterday.
Customer Review: Fantastic Knife Sharpener, Made in the USA, True Lifetime Warranty Summary: 5 Stars
This is by far the best knife sharpener I've ever owned. The tungsten carbide sharpener bits require only a couple of passes to restore just about any knife's original sharpness. I tried it on half a dozen knives and the operation is quick, efficient and effortless.
The manufacturer claims that the sharpeners should last for several years but, surprise, you can get double its life by reversing the bits - all you need is to remove 2 screws, reverse the bits and then tighten the screws back. The manufacturer's claim was persuasive enough for me to not regret saving a few bucks and actually ordering the version that does not include the replacement blades.
For non-commercial users, the manufacturer promises to fix or replace any unit for any reason if the owner returns it with $4.00 to cover postage and handling. There are no lawyery warranty exclusions or exorbitant fees or requests to provide extensive documentation. Now THAT's what I call a honest warranty policy.
I am very happy with this purchase and I am happy to note that not all of our manufacturing went overseas. If you need a knife sharpener I just can't see how you could get any better for the price. I'd say "go for it!".
Customer Review: Forget whetstone Summary: 5 Stars
For some reason, I couldn't get my knives to sharpen with whetstone, even though I'm a pretty crafty guy. I decided to give this a try instead, and WOW - all my knives are now shaving sharp!! Highly recommended.
Customer Review: Get What You Pay For Summary: 3 Stars
I needed a knife sharpener for some old knives I had. I chose this one mainly for the price and the design. I needed somehting cheap that would be easy to grip. While the sharpener does what its supposed to the blades wear out quick. I am definitely glad it came with extra blades and I ordered an additional pack of blades as well. I do like the design of the sharpener. It's easy to grip and use, but the blades just wear out to quickly.
