Customer Review: FLIMSY, NEEDS MECHANICAL FILTER?

I use this (against the rules) with my gas dryer. I get a little stuffy smell & the feeling that this device is not removing all the particles of the lint. The exhaust air blows over a pool of water in the trap, but I am not seeing much lint collect there. The air hits the water straight on & then deflects back in the opposite direction out over 2 sides of loovers into the room.
The flimsy plastic does not fit together very securely. And the little middle plastic internal chamber divider also does not sit securely inside this device. (The trap has two sides divided by a little piece of plastic, like a 2 inch X 4 piece of flat plastic sheet bent into an upside-down V configuration (looking at it from the side), bent to make a sort of a nose shape viewed ( from the side), with ridge nose up. This little divider deflects half the exahaust air into one side of the trap & half into the other side of the trap. On the side it looks like an inverted V. After playing with the divider, it seems to be staying in place now.
It has no filter. The idea seems to be that by the hot air hitting the surface of the water & reflecting back up, lint will go into the water. I don't know how well that actually works. I will try making a filter to filter the air before it comes out into the room & see what happens. Maybe I will use women's hose for the filter. I would gladly have paid more for a device that had a mechanical filter in addition to the water. Perhaps there should be a device that has the dryer exhaust bubble through water.
At the least if you are going to use this (vs. the rules) with a gas dryer, you should check to see that your gas flame is blue (little or no yellow) so that you are not breathing a lot of carbon dioxide (CO) and you should buy a CO detector/alarm to put in the same room with the trap. I bought one that doesn't just give off an alarm, but also reads out the CO level for monitoring.
