Customer Review: Great fan if you want to move a LOT of air

I ordered this fan after comparing it with Lasko and Patton fans. I was replacing a Lakewood fan of similar type. This fan is being used to help circulate heat in our home. We have electric baseboard heat in a large old 2 story farmhouse which doesn't begin to keep the house warm. Because of this, we have a large Buck type stove to supplement our heat in a downstairs room. Because of the layout of the house, with lots of rooms but little open space, we have trouble getting all the heat from the room where the woodstove is to circulate as well as we would like. The old Lakewood had been in use for about 5 years and just finally stopped working. It had worked well,(or so I thought) but like all fans of this type was a bit loud and had always been bad to 'rattle' when on high. This new fan is INCREDIBLE in the amount of air it circulates. I honestly don't see us needing any setting but low on it! It does make some noise, but it's the sound of the blades whipping through the air, not a buzzing or rattling noise. I can see it being a bit much if you were in the same room with it trying to chat, talk on the phone or watch tv. But for circulating a lot of air through numerous rooms, you couldn't ask for more and it really doesn't need to be in the same room with you to circulate the air. The construction seems as good as any I've seen in this price range. It's heavy enough to stay in place and allow you to pivot the fan without getting it off balance. It is just what I needed to do the job I needed done. The packaging was a little iffy, but it got the fan to me and it arrived in working order. I would buy it again.Customer Review: Great product.

I initially thought the noise factor was too much to bear. After using it once, I was so satisfied with the amount of air and cooling that I actually rationalized that in the summer the noise might be useful to drown out the late night outside chattering of my neighbors.Customer Review: Nice Fan

This is definitely a quality fan that pushes a lot more air than the standard Walmart box fan. It has black metal blades, not plastic and a quality cord. The only gripe I have is I wish the low setting went lower. At the low setting, it still pushes a lot of air and as a result is still noise. It would be nice if the three settings had a wider speed control since the air turbulence at the blades creates the noise. Noise wise, this creates about the same amount of noise on high as the standard box fan on high but pushes a lot more air and has a slightly lower pitch. I will keep the fan despite the noise but if I had it to do over, I would look for a fan that had a wider speed variance across the three speed settings. If you don't care that much about noise, I don't see any downside.
