Customer Review: This product is TERRIBLE !

Two seasons ago I bought 3 (THREE) of these units for our apartment. One for our living room/kitchen area and one for each of our two bedrooms. I maintained them diligently - which is a LOT of work. Within two humdifying seasons all three units were broken - they no longer produced mist of any kind. I tried to contact Air-O-Swiss on many occassions to rectify this problem and their customer service was abysmal. They made a few suggestions, none of which worked. In the end I was told an Air-O-Swiss representative would contact me in an effort to rectify these problems and the whole situation. Six months later I am still waiting for that call. These units were expensive, high maintenance ( and also very expensive for cleaners, filters and ionic sticks) and in the end were just a huge disappointment. Save your money and go for another cheaper brand and save yourself the aggravation. I will never buy another Air-O-Swiss unit, neither should you ! Also, my neighbor just informed me her exact same model is now leaking after just one season. Avoid this expensive and poorly designed product.Customer Review: Very good Humidifier

Have it since about 6 months. Used it a lot. The display is too bright at night, there should be auto adjust. The handle of the tank could be more user friendly for refilling the water. It's hard to hold the tank upside down with no handle, when refilling the water. Other than that I really recommend this product.
We are living in Colorado and we have a relatively big bed room. The humidifier is not able to raise the humidity to a level that it can swicth off, but that is mostly because it is extremely dry here.

When this unit works, it is pretty good. For us, however, it only worked for about 4 months total. The problem we experienced with that unit is that it stops producing steam all of a sudden every couple of months (cleaning and filter changes are done as instructed). We only use it in wintertime, and with the unit being in service for 4 to 6 weeks (had to send it in twice already, and it just stopped working again), we really don't get much use out of it.
There were other reviews commenting on poor quality of this humidifier and horrible customer service- I concur.
Please don't waste your money- the likelihood of this humidifier not functioning properly is very high.
Customer Review: Works as described for those WITHOUT hard water.

This is my first humidifier after previously living in California, and then moving to Chicago where the humidity level during winter is horrid.
I read all the reviews and honestly was expecting the worst, virtually no humidifier got any decent reviews and you'd think this $200 model was a PoS based on the poor feedback.
All I can say is folks, if you have HARD WATER, do NOT buy this model. Seems pretty simple right? Yet everyone buys it anyone, complains, and rates it down. This seems to happen on most units, short of those with manufacturing defects.
I've been running it for the last week after buying it at BB&B (was paranoid about having to return it, the discount from their coupon didn't hurt either as it was cheaper than amazon), and it's been running flawlessly since I bought it through every night and some evenings keeping humidity around 40-50%.
I did let the mineral filter soak for the recommended 24hrs, and this is also running off city water in a large hi-rise.
All the features like the automatic mode, and the 'warm mist' seem to work just fine, and the unit looks great (ie. doesn't look like a white and clear blue eyesore), plus takes up very little space.
Recommended if you have good quality water.
Customer Review: Would be great if it didn't sound like a cow!

First of all, I must validate my argument by stating that I own an Air-O-Swiss 7135 as well. That unit has been flawless. It is quiet, humidifies well, and has been hassle free. I recently moved my 7135 to my daughter's room and decided to give the "upgraded" 7142 a try in my own room. The thing sounds horrible! It sounds like a low pitched cow mooing on and off every few seconds. The sound is very disturbing. Not even my dog would sleep in the room with the horrendous cow sound. It just droned on and off all night long and kept me awake. I tried shaking it and kicking it, but it didn't get rid of the horrendous bovine that is now living in my room. I think I'm going to just throw it out my window so I can put it out of its misery.
