This is a great product! As advertised it humidifies the air with many options on heating the mist, setting the amount of humidity you desire and sleep mode. The first year, this unit worked great. But, this winter, this unit makes an annoyingly loud intermittent popping noise. I can only guess that it is due somehow to the spring at the bottom of the reservoir, but I can't figure out why it's happening or how to fix it. Also, it appears that the unit is not as effective as last year. Not sure why. I do need to purchase a new ionic pin thingy, but other than that, I think it's been properly maintained.
I've just emailed Air-O-Swiss's customer service, but seeing the other comments, I'm not hopeful to get an answer. I'll post back if I figure this thing out.

I'm reading a lot of negative comments about Air-O-Swiss' customer service, and I wonder where they are coming from. Most of them look a year old. I had a great experience with their customer service, it was notably un-painful. About a week after I had bought the unit, I could not unscrew the cap of the water tank. The manual says to press the spring at the bottom of the cap to release water pressure. I did, but unfortunately I think I pressed to hard, and I pushed the pin trough the cap into the filter. I call up AOS later that day, expecting to argue for hours that I just did what the manual told me and I wasn't liable. To my surprise, I picked up the phone and dialed, and a nice sounding american lady picks up. I tell her what happened, and she simply asks for my address. She says were sending you a new cap, and it will be there in a few days. Whatya know, three days later it arrived on my doorstep in a handwritten package. No arguing, no proof of purchase, nothing.
As for the unit itself, it is really good looking. It was the only humidifier that didn't look like a bag of hurt at bed bath & beyond. I am using the humidifier in my basement bedroom, which receives the extremes of the humidity spectrum. During the summer I have a de-humidifier, and the heat is so dry down there I need a humidifier during the winter. The sound the unit makes is most closely related to a laptop's fan, with the occasional bubble of water (3d screensaver?). I keep it next to my bed with no problems. The room is about 400SQ feet, well within the specified range of this humidifier. However, I have had the unit running for about 48 hours now, and have only seen the humidity rise from 25% to 29% on the unit. I would complain that the humidifier isn't even doing its job, but the room is noticeably more humid. Wether it just isn't accurate or a 4% jump in humidity is really that noticeable, I'm pretty satisfied so far. I will update this if it actually gets any higher.

I had a problem breathing at night. My baby use to get up in the middle of night coughing and since my bedroom is very big the small humidifier did not work that effectively. I am very happy with this product. Though some minor changes in the model can prove very easy in handling. While filling up the tank there is no handle for lifting the full tank. Apart from that I am very happy with the product. I can sleep through the night without waking up with a dry throat and nose.Customer Review: Great product

I purchased this humidifier about a month ago. It works fine, with just a little white dust. My apartment is about 1000 sq, feet, so I found that I needed two in order to maintain the humidity level I wanted.
It's very quiet too. One thing I noticed is that the humidity reading on the machine is not accurate most of the time. It's off about ten points, so you might want to invest in a separate instrument to measure your humidity level.
