After plugging it in, this unit emitted a melted plastic odor which became worse after a few hours. It caused headache, sore throat, and peculiar taste in the mouth for the family members for whom it was purchased (varying ages). The blue plastic at the top was very hot to the touch. This purifier was purchased to improve air quality, not make it toxic. Amazon processed the return/refund promptly.Customer Review: Died after 2 years!

First of all, I never really noticed a difference in air quality. The light on my unit died about a year after purchased and since there are no movable parts, the only way one could tell it was on was to touch to see if warm. I should have returned the unit at that time since it was still within the 2 year warranty, but it still worked so I didn't feel like dealing with the hassle of returning it. Finally, the unit died. I didn't notice at first because there was no light, but I touched it one day and it was ice cold. I tried moving it to a different outlet, but nothing. Since this is an unusual design, I couldn't open it up to try to figure out what was wrong, nor could I bring it to a repair person. I contacted the company and was told I could return the unit to be repaired for $80 (plus shipping), which in my opinion is just not worth it for something that I didn't think worked very well in the first place. If only it had died 2 MONTHS earlier, it would have been under warranty!! Just be warned-- if you already have a unit that is still under warranty, I would return at ANY sign of malfunction!Customer Review: Excellent

This machine successfully removed the aspergillis mold from my room. I have serious lung disease and am highly allergic to mold- i did a mold test before and after having it in place for 1 week- and it worked wonders- mold was gone! i haven't even explored what other benefits it has, ie smells etc- i'm so happy with this result. I highly recommend this for anyone with allergies or lung problems.
