These covers do actually work. I had a terrible problem with sneezing during the night and when I'd get up in the morning. I put an AllerEase cover on my mattress and the pillow covers on my pillows and I haven't had a problem since then. I use a thick mattress pad over it as well. The down side to this is it is quite paper-like, though I haven't ever ripped it or had any problem with it. I don't know about the claim to be waterproof because I don't have small children or problems in that area. But as far as dust mites - it really does work well!
