A so-so trimmer. Line cutter will surely break. Replacement cost is ridiculous. Was a previous owner of Yardstick model LT10. Needed a replacement battery at a cost of $20.00. Not too bad except replacement battery was a "dud". Customer service offered me a 30% loyal customer discount on a YS24 at a cost of $71.00. Found out I could purchase a new one at local hardware for $69.00 without the so-called 30% loyal customer discount!!!. Having previous experience with the YS24 (my daughters)and as stated above the problem with the line cutter, I think I will pass on this one. The 30% discount amounts to "zip". I received this trimmer about 1 month ago and I am impressed. Although it is a tad bit heavier than I would like, it certainly works quite awhile before running out of juice, like some of it's competitors. Plus, it gets though heavier stuff than I would have imagined. The string feed works great! The wall bracket/charger is nice.
I have had a couple wired trimmers and gas trimmers over the years. I believe this is my favorite. I do wish it had a strap, but thats not a major issue.
It is so nice to trim without smelling like 2-cycle oil or having to drag out drop cords. Great value here.
Customer Review: A Plastic Piece of Junk

I bought this item two years ago to use for my VERY, VERY small yard. During the second use, I propped it against a fence to move some items in my yard and it fell over, breaking the plastic holding handle. Some popsicle sticks and LOTS of duct tape later, it was somewhat usable again.
Later the first year, another plastic part broke (I can't really explain what it is but it is down by the trimmer line). MORE duct tape and it was stumbling along once again.
Then, early the second year, the plastic bump-feed part also broke so now the line has to be manually pulled out (and that is a big pain).
I do not recommend this trimmer at all - it is 95% plastic and lousy plastic at that. I'm tossing it this year and looking for a replacement that is more metal and less cheap plastic.
Customer Review: A great, no hassle trimmer.....if you take certain steps

After years of putting up with a cantankerous, maintenance-intensive gas trimmer I purchased a YS24 trimmer and have not regretted the decision at all. I have used the YS24 for approximately a year and have had experienced no reliability problems. I should add that I use this unit as a trimmer only so I cannot comment on its edging capability. The pros and cons of the YS24 are as follows:
Pros:
Virtually no maintenance hassles - no gas & oil to mix, no spark plug to clean & gap, no air filter to clean, no carburetor to adjust.
No starting problems - enjoy expletive-free trimming sessions.
Clean and quiet - you won't smell like a potpourri of gasoline and exhaust fumes after trimming.
Good run times - I'd estimate run times of between 30 and 45 minutes of nearly continuous use.
Adequate power - OK, so you won't be laying waste to a thicket of saplings with this trimmer, but there is enough power for what the typical yard has to offer. If you're used to a more powerful gas trimmer you have to remember to be patient and take smaller "bites" when encountering thick grass and weeds.
Cons:
Weight and balance - this is my biggest gripe with this trimmer. The heft and balance are such that after about 20 minutes of use I have to put the unit down for several minutes to give my back a rest.
Cheesy line advance - I skirt this problem by laying the trimmer down, pressing the line release button with one hand and pulling out line with the other hand. Note that this is a common complaint for many makes and models of trimmers.
In summary, I feel that the good points outweigh the bad and I would highly recommend this trimmer for use by the average homeowner.
Customer Review: A wothwhile add to the tool shed

Looking for a portable and powerful trimmer for the yard. Got tired of dragging out the extension cords so I read up on this and could not find a reason to not get it. It works wonderful in trimming and edging thanks to the power of the 24V motor and the HEAVY line that it uses. It is a good match for my old 3/4HP electric trimmer. The only trouble I have had is the guard comes off when trimming under bushes and shrubs.
