I purchased this for my 6 year old son. We put it together and found the handle extension was very cheap and needed tape right off the bat to hold it somewhat together. Other than that it works fine. Product arrived as stated in the description, in just a few minutes of taking it out of the box it was working. I haven't been able to get the disc adjustment right. The kids and I find stuff( coins, cans, bottle caps, iron bar) and have a lot of fun but I just can't figure out what we're digging for by what the meter is doing, maybe it's just me. Since the metal detector was a Christmas present for a friend I cannot give a review as to its merits. It looks very nice and when put together it beeped as it was supposed to. Right now there is snow everywhere and we won't know how it works until spring. Sorry. That is the best I can do!

This item seemed like the best value for my money. We put it together, and realized the coupler holding the two pieces of shaft together was extremely flimsy. If you tighten it too much, it falls apart. We were able to put the pieces together again, but I'm sure it will fall apart again.
The next problem is my husband, who is 5'10", has to lean over to be able to scan the ground. It's not made for a person with any height.
I plan to return the item and look for one locally where I can see what I am buying.
