Tools and Hardware Reviews of American Innovative Teach Me Time Talking Alarm Clock and NightlightCustomer Review: Educational and kind of fun but alarm may be too loud for young child Summary: 4 Stars
Neat clock with great features to teach analog time in this digital age. A little tricky to set but works if you read directions carefully. My 5 year old daughter got this from Santa and her favorite feature is that she can change the bezel color from blue to yellow to pink. My favorite features are the "toe button" that speaks the time and the time-telling games that come with it - you can start with very basic games (eg. round numbers like 3 o'clock) and then gradually increase difficulty (eg. 3:30, then 3:15, then 3:20, then 3:23). A little pricey but you get a lot of features. Kind of funky and modern-looking. Doesn't take up too much space on the dresser top. Overall a decent value.
Customer Review: Fabulous--keeps my 4 year old in her bed! Summary: 5 Stars
A friend told me about this clock! We have 3 children, and our middle child WILL NOT stay in her bed/room. We set this clock to glow orange from 5 pm until 6:45 am. Then at 6:45 am, it turns green. She knows that when it turns green she can get out of the bed. It totally works!! I LOVE IT!!!
Customer Review: Good Clock Summary: 4 Stars
This clock is great for toddlers that can't tell time yet. This clock has really been great for getting out two year old to stay in bed in the morning. We've had some problems with the plug for this clock not always working, which has been a bit annoying, but overall we're very happy. I wish you could program the clock to turn green at two different times. Sometimes trying to explain to a 2 year old that when it turns green in the morning they can get out of bed, but at nap time it doesn't can be a little difficult.
Customer Review: Good for helping kids know when it's OK to get up Summary: 4 Stars
I have to agree with the other reviewers who wished the green light could be brighter, and the display could be dimmer. Aside from that, I think it's a great product. My 3 year old son was very excited to get it and start using it. The green light feature has been very helpful for him to know when it's OK to get up in the morning, without having to keep asking me. If he wakes up too early, I just ask him if the green light is on yet, and when he says no, I remind him that he needs to go back to sleep -- he usually does. We use it at nap time, too. I'll be looking forward to using the "Teach Me Time" feature as he gets older, too. I also like that the display can show either digital or analog, or both. I normally wouldn't have spent this much on a clock, but I expect that we'll get many years of use out of it, in which case I think I will have gotten my money's worth.
Customer Review: Good product - but the backlight IS too bright Summary: 4 Stars
This seems to be working well so far for my almost-2 daughter. I programmed the clock so that it turns on the green light when it's OK for my daughter to wake up and call for me. So far, so good! I have no idea if she's actually sleeping, or if she just stares at the clock until it turns green, but she's quiet, so I'm not sure I care. ;-)
While it is true that you can turn off the night light feature, there are other lights in the clock (behind the face and in the "feet") that still glow orange/yellow, and are quite bright, even set at the dimmest setting. I agree with the other posters that this is just too bright. Prior to getting this clock, we also did not have any night lights in the room. So far, the orange/yellow glow does not seem to be keeping my daughter awake, and I have the clock across the room, so the lights are not shining on/near her. I am very sensitive to even small lights in a room at night, and I wouldn't be able to sleep with this clock in the room.
I am going to try turning off the LEDs in the feet, as one of the other posters suggested. Thanks!
