Tools and Hardware Reviews of American Innovative Teach Me Time Talking Alarm Clock and NightlightCustomer Review: Great training clock Summary: 5 Stars
We are finally getting full nights of sleep. My son generally waits until the clock turns green before coming in to be our wake-up call. It's been great!
Customer Review: Great, but my kid is scared of it?! Summary: 4 Stars
My 4 year-old son got this as a Christmas present (I put it on the list) and it has all the features/options you would ever need to teach your preschooler about time and just to wake them up! He had just a regular cheap-o digital alarm clock that we've used for almost 2 years, so I can only guess that he "doesn't like it" because he can't easily find the snooze button. They learn quick! Unless it's the voice....but I'm still working with him on it! The nightlights, timers, volume and everything work great and are easy to adjust once you mess with the settings once or twice. The battery option is essential...since he tries to unplug it to turn it off. I don't know how well the light coming on with the alarm works when it's supposed to be "okay to wake" because I have a college-boy-in-training, but it does seem to ease the transition before I switch the bedroom lights completely on in the morning, like the mean old mommy I am. Bottom-line: it works, it looks cool, and maybe it's something we both have to learn how to use effectively to get ourselves out of bed in the crisp of dawn. And it's better than a regular alarm clock that has a snooze button that a 2 year-old can find!
Customer Review: I LOVE this clock! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for my 4 year old last spring. She is an early riser and as the sun was rising earlier and earlier, so was she. I'm not a morning person, so I went in desperate search of a solution. I found this clock, but everyone was sold out, so it took me an entire day on the internet to find one. It was worth it! I paired the "rules" with this clock and a reward system and within 2 weeks, she was NEVER coming into my room before 7am. Yeah! To this day, she still gets very excited to announce to me that her clock is green when she wakes me in the morning. One morning I was awake at 6:30am and I heard her get up and turn on her bedroom light, then get back into bed and start drawing on her doodle. Learning to self-entertain is never a bad thing! Even better, she's teaching her 2 year old sister to wait, also. If her little sister wakes early, she usually goes into big sister's room and my 4 year old tells her "You have to wait until the clock is green to go get Mommy." So they wait together and I get to sleep. I think I'm going to buy another one for my 2 year old, just because she's fascinated with big sister's clock. We don't really use any of the other features right now. It doesn't matter much to me, since I would pay a lot of money to be able to sleep until 7am daily!
Customer Review: It worked great for over a year, then stopped talking Summary: 3 Stars
Updated review: I still like the clock, however, ours has stopped "talking" to us. It no longer speaks at all and that's a little irksome. I bought it so my daughter could play the game and so that she could press the button at anytime and it would tell her what time it was and we loved that it could do that up until recently. We only bought it last year. Disappointing, considering the price is over $30.
(Old Review) This has been very helpful for me to wake my 4 year old up in the morning. She can also help me find out what time it is while we're getting ready by pressing the little foot and it's reinforcing her learning how to tell time. We haven't played the game yet, she's only 4, but she is starting to understand time a little better now. We keep it on both analog and digital display at the same time, but you can choose between the two. I like the nightlight and it's not that bright on the lower setting. My daughter's plug-in night light is actually much brighter (too bright for sleep) and it's a nice change from that. I can now put the plug-in in the hallway. I think she'll have this her whole life if it works that long.
Customer Review: It works! Summary: 4 Stars
I was skeptical to order this but after reading the great reviews, I went for it - and am so glad I did! Our 3 yr old started waking up at the crack of dawn and no matter what we tried, he appeared in our room usually well before 6am. We got the clock, explained the "rules," set it to 7am, and held our breath.... it's been about a month now that we've had the clock and he has stayed in bed until 7am every single morning! He loves running in our room to tell us he "waited for his clock to turn green!" He is so proud to follow the rules and it's allowed us a precious extra hour of sleep - definitely a winner in my book! My only wish is that it also had an option for a separate naptime setting, but other than that it is wonderful! Yes, it is a little bright, but no brighter than a normal nightlight.
