Tools and Hardware Reviews of Analog Hygrometer 2.25" by Western HumidorsCustomer Review: Attractive and accurate. Summary: 4 Stars
This is an attractive little brass instrument. I particularly like the sticky tape/magnet mounting method. Good price. It's a bit small, but easy enough to read. No battery needed. Using the salt method for calibration, the accuracy was spot on on both the units I purchased. Update, 03/08/2011. I have since ordered 3 more of these. I have to monitor humidity carefully thanks to a serious dry skin condition in winter. These are now in virtually every room in my house and doing an excellent job.
Customer Review: Attractive, functional and inexpensive! Summary: 5 Stars
Delivery was prompt, reasonably charged and the two instruments I received work flawlessly. They are being placed in cases with expensive musical instruments and cost a mere fraction of the electronic version of the hygrometer.
Customer Review: Broke after one week Summary: 2 Stars
Worked great for a week, very accurate. Then stopped displaying humidity accurately. I was not rough with it and tried to tune it with screw on back, but it was already maxed out in the direction I needed.
Customer Review: Can beat the accuracy and price Summary: 5 Stars
I thought it was pretty close since I compared it to a friend's $35 digital hygrometer and it was within 1%. I also did the salt test in a sealed bag and it read exactly 75% as it was supposed to.
You can check the calibration yourself with about 2 cents worth of salt and a Ziploc baggy. Just google -> hygrometer calibration salt <- and you will find dozens of links on this easy test.
I am really pleased with this purchase since it lets me set my furnace humidifier at the correct level for the winter.
Customer Review: Cheap and accurate Summary: 5 Stars
I have a few of these - all are accurate to within 2.5%. They are cheap and react quickly to changes. I trust these to monitor all of my guitars. Better than the numerous digital hygrometers I've tried.
