Tools and Hardware Reviews of Analog Hygrometer 2.25" by Western HumidorsCustomer Review: Good price but not overly accurate Summary: 4 Stars
As soon as I got the hygrometer I salt tested it (which should yield a humidity reading of 75%). The reading was 79-80%, and I couldn't see any way to adjust it. As long as I remember that it overstates the humidity by 4-5%, it ought to work OK, though.
Customer Review: Good product and value Summary: 4 Stars
This hygrometer measures about 2 1/4 inches across and comes with a magnet that you can apply to the back. I'm currently using it to measure humidity in multiple rooms in my house, then compare the measurements to and calibrate my humidistat. It works well for this purpose.
I don't have any other hygrometers, so I can't compare it's accuracy. However, I was able to calibrate it using instructions I found here:
[...]
Regarding calibration, you can use a flat head screwdriver to turn a screw type hole in the back. The screw was very sensitive when turning, and this made it more difficult to calibrate than I would have liked. While following the instructions above, I actually made a very tiny hole in the plastic bag and inserted the tip of the screw driver though it, adjusting it back and forth till I had it as close to perfect as I could get it, which should be within about 1% of a true reading (acceptable to me). This is why I'm rating 4 stars instead of 5.
Also, no batteries required, which is great.
Customer Review: Great Little Hygrometer Summary: 4 Stars
I've been very pleased with this hygrometer. It is small but well built and it is easy to read. I've used it in my guitar case to check the humidity and in and around the house during this cold and snowy winter.
Customer Review: Great product but vendor...meh Summary: 5 Stars
So this hygro is awesome for the price, calibrated once use the damp towel method and it's worked great ever since. extremely accurate.
However, on the other hand, the vendor I purchased it from was located just a simple 6hour drive from my town, and yet the item took something like 17 days to arrive which was a bit offputting to say the very lest.
Customer Review: Great value and accuracy but not easily adjusted. Summary: 5 Stars
For its ridiculously low price, it's plenty accurate. It tested within 1 percentage point right out of the box, but when I tried to calibrate it the little adjustment screw on its back proved very imprecise. With the slightest touch of a small screwdriver, the needle jumped too far too fast. Buy it and test it with a cheap calibration kit (like Boveda one-step calibration) but don't mess with the screw. Simply remember if it's one degree too high or too low and be glad you got it for a few lousy bucks!
