I would like to start by saying I do not work for Aquasana. We received our 4100 from Amazon about 2 weeks ago. Some of the reviews on Amazon scared me but the people that loved the filter won me over. I did use plumbers tape (Teflon tape) during the installation. The installation itself was extremely easy. Some of the bad reviews made it sound like it nightmare waiting to happen but I had no problems. My wife noticed a difference in her hair (extremely long and thick) after the fourth shower. She weaned herself off and is no longer using any conditioner on her hair. That is saving me just over $30 every 4 to 6 weeks. Her hair combs right out with no tangles after showering and is extremely soft (and sexy).
The showerhead and filter have good water flow. We use it to fill the bathtub when we want to soak in hot water.
Overall, this product is an excellent purchase. We purchased it through Amazon because of the bad reviews of Aquasana's returns on defective units.
One last note: Guys, you can buy and install this on your anniversary, but, do not buy it for her anniversary present. She will love the filter long before she forgives you.

The Aquasana Filter has made a great difference in the texture of my hair. My hair has always been dry/brittle and I have spent tons of money on salon products to try and make my hair healthier. I've only been using the Aquasana Filter for two weeks now and my hair is so soft and so much healthier looking than its ever been. This has worked better on my hair than any salon product I've ever tried for damaged hair. I wish I would've discovered this years ago.Customer Review: Absolutely Amazing!

I moved to Atlanta about nine months ago with my husband who has eczema, and we both began to notice serious skin irritation from the water here. For me, it was a matter of some discomfort, as well as developing dandruff problems for the first time in my life, but my husband's skin was going crazy. Finally after six months of suffering through this, I decided to buy him a shower filtration system for Valentine's Day. I wasn't sure what to expect, and I was really just hoping for any little change for the better.
That said, I was BLOWN AWAY by the enormous positive change in the quality of the water using this filter. The first time I used it, I came out of the shower and my skin felt like I had just spent half a day at a spa. I had been getting a blotchy red rash on my chest and back after showering before using this filter (probably from all the chlorine and other junk in the water), but the rash has completely gone away since we started using this filter. My husband also experienced tremendous relief from his eczema problems. Taking a shower feels so healthy now. We've been using it for about a month and I can't imagine ever going back.
A few other reviewers mentioned problems with the weight or installation or the casing cracking on this filter. I didn't have any of these problems. Even with the old, shaky pipes in my house, this filter was incredibly easy to install. The entire process, including the carbon filter flush, took me about ten minutes. The only thing that surprised me was that the water initially comes out with quite a lot of pressure when doing the filter flush, so I had to quickly move the bucket I was using to catch the carbonated water farther down the tub than I had anticipated (obviously not a big deal).
This filter is one of the best purchases I've ever made; although I haven't tried other models, if you want something that definitely works, this is what you're looking for.

I purchased one for myself and one for my daughter. Both required replacement parts within one month of use (mine twice). Leakage has also been a constant problem. Now that the warrantee is expired, I have an unrepairable item that will require replacement of the entire unit. Under warranty coverage Aquasana promptly sent the parts out, nevertheless, the use of flimsy plastics has become a part the engine that keeps our economy fluid at the cost of environmental peril (production of harmful chemical pollutants and no way to properly recycle). I would love to see a product that sells for 10 times the price, but that lasts a lifetime. All showers filters are thusly manufactured and so Aquasana is the lesser of many evils.Customer Review: Aqua Sana Shower Filter

I've used this product for a couple of years now, and can honestly say that it does work. My husband and I both have sensitive skin, and noticed a difference right away. Shampoo washes out of my thick hair with ease, it's not as dry as it was w/out the filter, the chlorine smell is gone, and our skin isn't as dry. But, I'm only giving them 3 stars for their lack of innovation in the design of the product. For one, it leaks a tad where you screw it in to the pipe. For another, it is very bulky and heavy. Most importantly, they really need to come up with a program to recycle the replacement filters. The outer shell of the filter is made of thick plastic that is disposable. What a shame; for all of their touting on their website about the dangers of bottled and tap water [...] , it would make sense to go one step further and make their own products eco-friendly. After all, isn't it defeating the purpose of filtering chemical laden water if the chemicals and petroleum used to create these filters are a part of the problem? This goes for the whole house system that they sell as well, which must be trashed after about five years and replaced with a whole new unit. That's a big hunk of plastic! Hopefully, Aquasana will eventually catch on, and do the right thing.
