Tools and Hardware Reviews of Aquasana undercounter water filter systemCustomer Review: Bad water filter system Summary: 1 Stars
The water filter leaks and when you talk to their customer service about it they only suggest buying more filters or getting into a plan for continued use/buying of their product. If you get it to work the water tastes great but it is poorly designed and will break sooner than later. Their customer service is about selling more product and not helpful at all. I am stuck with new filters and a housing that gushes water from the bottom making it totally useless. Aquasana recommended new filters for the fix when they obviously knew it was a housing problem. This became evident when I contacted them the second time about the water filter continuing to leak.
I would highly recommend not buying this filter.
Customer Review: Cheap Materials Summary: 1 Stars
I had to post this because of the problems I've had with the quality of the product. I've had problems with the threads on the housing caps breaking and the housings themselves breaking. I've gone through several of each in a couple of years time even with being careful about water pressure and tightening of the threads. The people I've talked to at the company have been ok to deal with but this is just annoying. My shower filter from them just broke as well. I've ordered a system from someone else that uses stronger 10 inch filter housings and standard 10 inch filters which are cheaper in the long run as you're not locked into a proprietary system. Hope this helps someone make a better informed choice than I did.
Customer Review: Future cabinet damage ahead Summary: 1 Stars
We had both the shower and under counter filter for about three years. First the shower filter case cracked. About six months later the under counter filter case cracked causing some damage to the cabinet, floor trim, and wood floor. Fortunately we were home at the time and not out of town. It's almost certain to say from other reviews that other aquasana AQ4000 filters will do the same. They should really do something about this.
Customer Review: Great - Until the Housing Cracked Summary: 1 Stars
We loved this product - easy installation and the water tastes great.
Just outside the warranty the housing cracked due to poor design and cheap plastic. Very disappointing that the manufacturer was unwilling to help.
If you do decide to buy this product despite bad reviews, please be forewarned that replacing the filters can be a pain. The best method is to gently use a ratchet or socket wrench of the proper size to open the housing.
We currently use a gravity system for our water.
Customer Review: Great filter, wonderfully clean water!! Summary: 5 Stars
We live in suburban Atlanta and our water tasted awful! Highly chlorinated and who knows what else in there?? Just let it be said that Atlanta water tastes like somebody had to work on it real hard to get it close to legal... and it sure tastes that way, also.
After reviewing the CA Dept of Health certifications for the Aquasana filter, and stacking it up against other filters, I learned that Aquasana removed 99.9% of all of that crud that you really don't want to drink... like stuff with names that only a toxicologist would know about or could pronounce! Dude: If you can't pronounce it or spell it, don't drink it!
I purchased this under-the-sink filter 2 months ago, and installed it myself. After installation, we noticed a marked improvement of the taste of our water... more sweet, more clear, I feel that I rediscovered what God wanted us to drink! It is perfect and refreshing water!
I read the other reviews listed here and wondered about the reviews that gave this product a low rating. My guess is that these people may have had very little prior experience with making minor plumbing modifications and repairs in their home. After many years of doing my own plumbing repairs and improvements, I have learned about the surprising intricacies of plumbing (eg #1: Hey! don't crank that joint so tight so that it cracks!, eg #2: Yo! Did you wrap that plumbers tape in the right direction??) and found the installation easy.
If you have not tinkered with your own plumbing and don't know how delicate some of the fittings can be, I'd whole heartedly recommend this product... but also advise to get a plumber or someone w/ light plumbing experience to install it for you. If you are a rookie, you'll avoid what seem to be the catastrophes described in other reviews, I'm sure. It will cost you, but you will be SO GLAD TO FINALLY HAVE WATER YOU ENJOY DRINKING!!!
At this point, my only regret is that I did not buy the whole-house filter system! I'd like to find out what it feels like to wash my hair in that clean, clean water!
Drink up!
