I have this item and I wear it on my arm every night and every morning when I walk my dogs. I live in Northern Virginia where, as a pedestrian, you're just a nuisance waiting to be run over. Forget your right of way; the cars and cell-phone-talking-drivers rule.
This item is very bright and can be set for flashing or continuous burn. I've had mine for almost four years and besides replacing the batteries every several months (and it would be less save for the occasions when I hang up my coat and forget to shut the light off) it has worked fine in rain, snow, heat, cold...etc. It's just very durable.
Does it keep me safe? You bet. In dark mornings and nights I always see the cars -- from a distance -- slow down and take notice, usually moving to the middle of the road to give me more space. This is truly a very valuable item to have when walking or jogging. It also lets other dog walkers know you're coming, giving ample time to get out of the way if your dog or their dogs are not too friendly. Believe me, your safety is worth the $12.00 plus shipping!
