When my smoke alarms reached the end of their life (churping, with no relief), I replaced them with the BRK models 7020B and 9120B. In this way I had coverage for the two main types of fires - smoldering and kitchen/electrical. These installed easily using the plugs from my old smoke alarms. If you need to replace your smoke alarms I feel that you will be pleased with these.
