Tools and Hardware Reviews of BRK Brands 9120B Hardwired Smoke Alarm with Battery Backup, Single Individual from Contractor PackCustomer Review: BRK 9120B Smoke Alarm Summary: 5 Stars
Had nothing but problems with the older model BRK Smoke Detector installed by the contractor who built our home. After months (years) of chirping, replacing batteries and cleaning them did nothing to stop the annoying chirping which woke us up all hours of the morning. So far, these replacement units have not let out a chirp and seem to be working fine.
Customer Review: BRK 9120B smoke detector Summary: 5 Stars
Easy to install batteries are included. Test button is easy to access. All hardware is included for installation. Good retrofit for existing BRK system.
Customer Review: BRK 9210B Smoke Alarm Summary: 5 Stars
The hardwired smoke alarm was very easy to install. Although the two mounting screws were set at a different place on the mounting plate, the holes fit nicely with those on the original electrical bracket on the ceiling. Therefore, once the original screws were removed, they were very easy to be used to mount the new smoke alarm.
Customer Review: BRK = JUNK Summary: 1 Stars
This product gets one star from me only because I could not give it a 0.
I am sure that the builder installed these in my home because they were the cheapest thing around. They have been awful. After a month in the house, we had to completely disconnect one smoke detector because it would not stop chirping after repeated battery changes, cleaning, etc.
The others chirp at random, even after having batteries changed.
Sometimes all of the alarms go off, for no apparent reason at all.
You can hardly open the compartment where the battery is housed and the battery does not go in easily.
Terrible. I can't say enough bad things about this company. I am sorely disappointed and will never buy from this company again...period.
Customer Review: BRK Brand Hard-Wired Smoke Detector Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased these as replacements for existing hard-wired smoke alarms. They were very easy to install and came with a 9-volt battery. Perfect for our needs, but should only be purchased if you are hard-wiring your new home for smoke-detectors or replacing hard-wired smoke-detectors. Our old ones (same manufacturer but older model) all gave out within the same six months. I believe that's because we didn't test them on a monthly basis so the internal capacitor built up enough charge to fry the unit. I suggest pressing the test button regularly to prevent that from happening.
