I purchased a home with an attic fan that I don't plan on using so the home inspector suggested I get a cover for it. I checked Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. and they stated covers come WITH attic fans. The previous owner left me no cover. A neighbor suggested trying the Internet. I really don't like buying on-line because I like to see what I am getting. However, I couldn't find a cover anywhere else so I resorted to the Internet. I was extremely disappointed with the looks and installation of this attic fan covering "kit". I'd ordered the 36X48 kit initially based on the measurements of the width of my shutters (shutters are within the frame); my shutters measure exactly 36X42. The item states "fits up to 36" X 48" Attic Fan SHUTTERS." The next size available was 48X48 which seemed way too large so I concluded I needed 36X48. When I received it, the cover wouldn't reach the frame. I called back to the co. and they did send me the next bigger size (48X48) so I put up the velcro, trimmed the cover to fit and had someone help me install it. The picture that comes with it shows a smiling female as if she can do this all by herself but I needed a helper. The material this cover is made of is just not very attractive; it's not smooth with a nice edge like it appears in the picture. Where you trim the edge, you can see the the green stuff-- the foam or whatever is made of. However, the instructions state to use the white electrical tape that comes with it to seal it. The tape would not stick to the metal/chrome frame. The whole deal just looked ugly. I had guests commenting "just paint over it!", etc. So, I removed it and had someone recently install the metal-looking panels you buy at Lowe's or Home Depot for your kitchen backsplash and it looks 1000X better. So, $100+ later for the metal-looking panels from Lowe's plus $40 for the kit that's now sitting in a corner in my garage, at least I have an attractive covering on my attic fan.
