Customer Review: Perfection prevented by finish issues and lack of customer service

After reading the reviews on this table, I immediately ordered it. This is my first Bench Dog product. After assembling the table, it is obvious that this is a quality product, and the fence is especially nice. The package arrived in perfect condition, and was not damaged in transit. However, I am disappointed with the condition of the wood panels as shipped. The left side panel has a large gash in it, and it was circled with a black Sharpie (which it seems should have prevented it from being included in the package). I immediately called Bench Dog, but it was a half hour past their business hours, so I left a detailed message with their customer service department. They did not return my call. I did not follow up because I did not want to wait to see if they would ship a new panel (but a call back would have gone a long way toward securing me as a long-term customer). I filled the gash and modified their decal to cover the damage. But there are also dents on the other panels. These are purely aesthetic issues, but I use my tools in my garage, and I figure that after paying over $200, the table should be in good shape. But the important parts (the Pro Top and fence) is perfect and very high quality. I do wish they would include a miter gauge. I gave this product a 4 because 3 is too low. Customer Review: Love it!

This table is solid and looks great! I found the assembly instructions easy to follow. It arrive promptly and in perfect condition. I was only missing a plastic washer for the fence but I called Benchdog and they shipped one quickly. I have a Hitachi M12VC router attached to it using the pre-drilled holes.Customer Review: Excellent product made even better with quality parts

Arrived on time and packed very well. I put it together in a matter of an hour or so. Instructions were clear and precise. What I noticed is that all the hardware is of top quality no cheap bolts or screws. As I built the unit I could tell that it was going to be solid and sturdy. I installed my Dewalt 618 to the predrilled holes and it works just fine. There are also a whole list of routers that have predrilled holes so check them out to see if you have one as the template that comes with it will show your routers predrilled holes. Its also nice size so I can store it under my bench when not in use to save room in my shop. I highly recommend to anyone who wants a quality tool at a great price.

This is one of the finest products that I have used. I completed it with the bench dog router lift and the Porter Cable 7518. This combination has been working very well and it compliments my work. It is much easier to do professional work with professional equipment. A professional is never any better than the tools that he uses. If he uses a $2.00 tool, HE WILL PRODUCE A $2.00 PRODUCT. I built a box with rollers to set it on while working and drop into when shipping. I live in Alaska and travel to various villages to work. It is easier for me to ship than a full size table. Before I purchased, I read the reviews and one professional said, 90% of his work was on a smaller portable table like this. He was right. Excellent equipment. I am proud to own it. This is an outstanding item. I ordered it on Sunday Dec 3rd got it Wed. Dec 6TH 2006. The picture does not do it justice. This is a well made product. Nothing junky or second rate about it. Assembly took me about 3.5 hrs from the time I opened the box until I ran a piece of scrap wood through the router. I believe this will be one of my favorite woodworking tools. I have a Dewalt DW625 mounted to it. This is a large (3hp)router and fits easily into the cabinet.
I highly recommend this fine American Made (!) product.
