Tools and Hardware Reviews of Bessey D-BKWH Quick-Change Folding Utility Knife - Wood Grain HandleCustomer Review: Bessey utility knife Summary: 5 Stars
Fabulous knife I use it everyday at work and it still looks brand new. IT ALSO IS MADE VERY WELL AND HOLDS UP TO THE TUFFIST OF CONDITIONS. I even dropped it several times and it hardly even left a scratch on it. A must for the serious worker or homeowner who needs a good knife.
Customer Review: Best I have owned Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned several folding utility knives of varying quality. This one from Bessey is by far the best I have used.
Everything about it says quality. The blade is held tight during use with absolutely no wobble or play, which is a big fault with most of the "quick change" knives I have used. Opening the blade with the thumb stud requires an appropriate amount of effort...enough to keep the blade safely closed in your pocket, but sill relatively easy to deploy when you want to. The handle feels sturdy enough to survive just about anything you could throw at it, short of a howitzer. The wood inserts are a nice touch as well.
If you are looking for your first folding utility knife, do yourself a favor and get this one. You will never need another and you will avoid spending a small fortune going through the home improvement store offerings in search of the perfect one.
Customer Review: Best Utility Knife I've Ever Owned Summary: 5 Stars
I've used many utility knifes in my life for many purposes, including a lot of construction projects involving sheet-rock, tar paper, roofing, carpet, and linoleum.
This knife is by far the best I've used. It's a single-blade, with no storage on-board for additional blades. It's heavy duty and feels weighty and sturdy. It's beautiful. It has a pocket-knife operation that logs into place once opened and a simple blade removal/replacement process where you flip a catch up, widthdraw the blade, replace it, lower the catch again.
When closed, it takes up very little space and could fit in a shirt pocket. It also has a very sturdy belt-clip.
This would be a great knife at double the price and I expect it to last a very long time. I use it several times every week around the house, still.
Customer Review: Best Utility Knife I've had Summary: 5 Stars
This utility knife is the best and sharpest one I have ever owned. It is a bit heavier than most, but as another reviewer says - that is a good thing. I really like the wood grain handle, makes it look very nice although it doesn't add to the functionality.
It comes with a plastic guard for the blade and the locking mechanism works well. Overall, it is really a good deal and looks great in your toolbox.
Customer Review: Broke while cutting up the cardboard amazon box it came in... Summary: 1 Stars
I've owned a TON of utility knives in my search for the "ONE"...sadly, this wasn't it and I'm dumbfounded by all the positive reviews here on this site. This knife lasted all about 5 minutes and literally broke the first time I used it -- cutting up the Amazon box it came in. The head on the bolt that holds the body of the knife together sheared right off and now it's a wobbly/useless mess. I'm too busy/lazy to fuss with the RMA to send this back, so I'll retire it to my drawer of other misfit utility knives. I can also confirm that this knife is way too heavy to carry in a pocket all day. FYI...my current go-to knife is the Stanley 10-816L matched with a Bucket Boss 54042 knife holder, but still looking...
