We bought this device specifically to discourage cats and dogs from using our front lawn for a toilet. It's difficult to say if the Yard Gard actually does work or not. We are still getting cat/dog droppings on our lawn now, but the instructions state that it may take a while for the existing visitors to break their habit of coming by, but should deter any new ones from feeling welcome. So, I'm disappointed that this device doesn't have the ability to just stop all the cats and dogs immediately. The jury is still out on this one.Customer Review: Bird-X Yard Gard is a bust

I purchased this animal repeller in September 2010 to protect ornimental evergreens from deer. I installed it per instructions. It seems to work, as it chirps when I walk near it. The deer seem to like it, as we have more dining on our trees/shrubs than ever before. I expect to see them them tapping their hooves to the sound as they enjoy their salad! This device must work for giraffes, mountain lions, elephants, and penguins, since I haven't seen any of those around my yard. However, it's a safe assumption that this doesn't keep raccoons and skunks away because my sod is still being rolled up every night. I added a star because they made the machine smell like a skunk. I bought this product and had been using it for 6 weeks.It worked very well until some one stole it out of my yard. They cut the wires and took the box only. If anyone knows of a way to prevent thieves from taking these, I would sure like to know. I really need another one, but can't afford to keep replacing them. I would definately recommend Yard Gard to anyone that has problems with unwanted animals in their yard.
Is there a Yard Guard to keep heartless thugs & thieves out too??? That must be at "guns.com".....LOL...
It is a great product & it worked well for me in the short time I had it.

It works but the motion detector keeps triggering even when pointed in any
direction including the sky. Range or sensitivity adjustment makes no difference.
It's annoying. Will hook up my 2 BirdX units to outdoor motion detector
lights with screw in adaptor so that it turns on when the dear come
around at night.
