Tools and Hardware Reviews of Black & Decker 19-Inch 24-Volt Cordless Electric Mulching Lawn Mower #CMM1200

Customer Review: As good as advertised, and lovin it!
Summary: 4 Stars

Well if you're reading this review then you're probably like me and want to do your homework before taking the leap in purchasing an electric mower. I was skeptical after reading many a review on this site and others but the lawn was getting long and I finally bit the bullet and went for it. Here's an honest break down of what I love, like, and can see room for improvement on my Black & Decker Cordless mower:

Top 5 Pros:
1. I love how easy it is to crank this baby up just insert the key pull lever and away we go!!!
2. I love how easy it is to push this thing I almost forgot it's not self-propelled, okay maybe I'm exagerrating a little but honestly it's much lighter than I expected and very manuverable.
3. No more oil, filter, or anything changes..Hooray!!!
4. I've opted to go bagless and operate on my mulch setting and it's amazing how much less dust this thing kicks up compared to my old gas guzzler, practically dust-free(coming from a guy who has patches of dirt with little grass in some areas)which translates to a much cleaner mowing experience and my lungs are already thanking me.
5. Last but not least NO MORE $4/GAL OF GAS TO BUY FOR MY MOWER EVER!!!!

Cons:
1. Slightly damaged in shipping. Now before you change your mind and think I don't want to even worry about this and go some other route, hear me out. The box it was shipped in was in pretty bad shape and yes the mower hand a few scrapes and scrathes (which made me less than pleased at first glance). The good news is Amazon gave me the option to send it back for a refund or take a discount. I decided to make sure it would operate properly and after a thorough investigation I opted for the discount.

2. Defintely doesn't cover up 1/3 of an acre. Well maybe it does if you can cut 1/3 of an acre in less than 45-50 minutes b/c that's exactly how long a full charge will last you. I suppose if I ran the whole time this would be possible but for all practical purposes it seems to me that this bad boy will get you through roughly a 1/5 acre sized lot in one go and that's pushing it. I simply cut my front one day and the back the next so I didn't really see this as a con, but from some I guess this might be a turnoff.

3. Has trouble with very thick weeds, but other than that it did a comparable job to my 5.5 hp gas mower.

Well I guess that's about all you need to know to make an informed decision on going electric. Good luck on your decision and happy mowing!!!

Customer Review: Mower needs more power
Summary: 4 Stars

We are very satisfied with the Black & Decker cordless electric mulching lawn mower, but we are disappointed that it does not have as much power for picking up loose leaves, etc., as previous gas-powered mowers have had. It is very easy to store because the handle folds down, but it is every bit as difficult to push as our hand mower (grass cutter). It is not self-propelled, so don't expect it to make your life too much easier.

Customer Review: Satisfied customer
Summary: 5 Stars

Having read all the reviews, I was hesitant to throw this much money at a battery powered lawn mower. But, so far (4 uses...area is about 1800 sq. ft) I have had NO problems. The wheels are still on. The battery has plenty of juice. Its not too heavy to roll from the front yard to the back and best of all, the grass was cut very cleanly and the mulching is so fine that it is not noticed after cutting. All in all, it is worth the $. I had a 5 hp gas rotary and then a European manual push reel. Both of those had their own unique problems that made mowing a real pain in the ...! This Black and Decker model(19" 24v) seems to be a quality tool. mike b.

Customer Review: BEWARE WARRANTY REPAIR
Summary: 2 Stars

Before buying this item beware of the issues involved with a warranty repair. I had my Black and Decker CMM1200 mower for only 4 months when the battery/charging system failed. The nearest factory authorized service was OVER 100 MILES AWAY. When I called Black and Decker's consumer '800' number, I was told to:
A. Mail the mower to be repaired.
B. Drive the mower to the service center for repair.
c. Fix it myself and void the warranty.
Needless to say, I will not buy a Black and Decker product again, EVER!

Customer Review: CMM1200 Black & Decker cordless 19" mower ... NICE
Summary: 4 Stars

What a difference from a gasoline mower. Loved my 20+ year old Honda, self-propelled, 21" mulching mower. I mulched every root, leaf, and branch up to 1" for years - but it was noisey, belched smoke, leaked oil, rattled & shook, and may well have self distructed soon, so off to the recycling center. The B&D is so light it needs no self-propel, very easy to adjust height, QUIET, uses no gas or oil (no more trips to the gas station due to an empty gas can - & no fumes in the car)... so no leaks. Never struggles to start after a long winter or on a cold day. BUT, is is a relative lightweight - no mulching branches, no powering through thick 3" wet fall grass. Only 45 minutes of regular mowing (OK for my 0.25 acre yard if I mow before it gets too tall) Otherwise a great, GREEN choice.
