Tools and Hardware Reviews of Black & Decker ASI300 Air Station Inflator

Customer Review: 2 broke, each after 5 months.
Summary: 2 Stars

bought one in february. used it about 4-5 times per week for bike tires. first unit failed in july. cost me money to mail it back to blackanddecker. received replacement in august, which broke in november. now will cost more to send that one back again. worked fine until it broke, but just not a product that can function in an everyday use type of situation. I need a more robust compressor with a tank.

Customer Review: 2nd B&D air station owned
Summary: 4 Stars

After 18 years, my first B&D Air Station died so it was a no-brainer to buy another one. I really like that it will run on 110 or 12 volts and that everything stores inside the housing. Also, the pressure gauge is more accurate, usually matching the pressure when checked by a hand-held pressure gauge. My only minor complaint is that the 110 cord and air hose are both rather short, probably for easier storage within the housing.

Customer Review: A MUST HAVE FOR ANYONE !!

this product has been a lifesaver for my working around the yard. I bought a second one for my son

Customer Review: A Major Disappointment
Summary: 2 Stars

This item is so chock full of design flaws, it really serves only one purpose, namely, an emergency air pump to have in your car if you decide that you are so prone to flat tires that this is a necessity.

First the positives: 1) it does pump air; 2) it has both a DC and an AC power supply so you can plug it into either your outlet or your car; and 3) the pressure gauge does light up.

Now the negatives: 1) the air hose is about 18" or so inches long making it necessary to get the pump unit right up next to whatever needs to be pumped up and it requires the air valve on your tire to be on the side of the tire touching pavement so if you drive a big truck and your valve winds up at the top of the tire when you stop prepare to hold the unit while you pump; 2) the power plug is also about 18" making it necessary to either have outlets surrounding you or constantly carry an extension cord; 3) the car plug is hard wired in to the unit and stores in a little vestibule at the back of the pump, you say that sounds nice, and it is, but unfortunely inside that vestibule is also the power switch and you must take out the entire mess of cords every time you want to turn the unit on because the car adaptor is hard wired in so you must constantly take it and the 6'; of cord (they actually made this one long enough) in and out every time; 4) as for the switch, you will be using it alot because the pump automatically stops whenever it reaches the desired pressure and won't restart until you turn the unit off (this gets old quickly when pumping more than one item); 5) the air hose valve adaptor is made of plastic rather than metal so you have to be careful not to brake it; 6) the entire unit is made of plastic not exactly making it something that will be around for a while in your family; and 7) the fuses are basically inaccessable making it difficult to fix yourself.

Bottom line, do not buy this product unless you plan on never using it.

Customer Review: A big disappointment
Summary: 1 Stars

I do not recommend this product. The fuse is of low quality and has a propensity to fail. Because of a design defect, the user cannot access the fuse to replace it. When you call the manufacturer, they attempt to get you to take the unit to a local "authorized" repair facility which is often in an undesirable area in major metropolitan areas. Most people will not want to spend several hours to take a $40 purchase to a god-forsaken location to get a 25 cent fuse replaced by another Chinese-made piece of garbage. This is a very expensive way to put air in a ball or two.
