Tools and Hardware Reviews of Black & Decker BDL170 Bullseye Auto-Leveling Laser With AnglePro

Customer Review: It's cheap
Summary: 2 Stars

Yes, it is cheap price and also cheap made. The device is made in China. The battery cover is so easy to fall off. The edges don't look clean.

I don't know how long it would last but personally I expect higher quality from Black and Decker.

Customer Review: It's perfect for the home handyperson
Summary: 5 Stars

I am a home handywoman, and this laser level is perfect for me. This product shows both horizontal and vertical level lines, plus stationary straight lines in any direction. It can be nailed to a wall for hands free operation, and it's small and light, so I can hold it and my tools/project at the same time. I have used it to hang pictures, install chair rails and other wall moulding, draw long straight lines in art projects, hang window treatments, cut perfectly straight fabric, install tile, etc. I would not want to do any project without it.

Customer Review: Junk
Summary: 1 Stars

Piece of junk. It would be easlier to find level mark if they had a larger view for when level.

Customer Review: Not level, laser doesn't work
Summary: 1 Stars

I just got this yesterday, and am returning it today. The first time I turned it on, the laser beam was on for a couple seconds, then disappeared. I cannot get it to come back on. I have switched the batteries, and still, nothing. The leveling backlight comes on, but not the projected laser.

Also, this thing is so not level. If I line it up to where zero would be (if it were marked), it is about 5 degrees away from being level.

Customer Review: Not what is seems.
Summary: 1 Stars

To answer the first reviewers question it has a attachement device with a little pin to punch it into the wall. If you don't mind pinholes here and there.

More importantly I have two complaints. First, the centerpoint of the horizonal level is not well marked. It should have a big red line not a little black one like all the rest. But I see why they didn't mark it well. When I hang the level on the wall a movement of less than one line thickness makes a huge difference on whether the line is acutally even with the floor or not. I am reduced to standing back and looking at the line and the floor and saying, "Yep, that looks good." I coulda done that myself and saved the 20 bucks.

If I give it a little nod to usefulness it does give you a dependably straight line across the wall from one point. This can be useful but buy a used one or on sale. Wait till B & D has discontinued it and you can buy it in the bargin basket with all the other, "almost good enough" stuff B & D does.
