It works, however, it doesn't work for every item you want to hang. For example the picture, mirror, etc must be within a certain size range in order to use this tool. Other than that, it's great. Cannot use for small pictures or really big pictures and if you have a tight space you want to hang something this tool won't fit into the space. We could have lived without it in our house.

I bought this level at Home Depot based on the advertised "Non-slip Gecko Grip pads and can be held in place with only one hand". When I got home, looked at it and read the directions, I could not figure out how the Gecko Pads at each end of the level provided any grip. The pads are spring loaded and perfectly smooth plastic. If anything, the spring pressure would tend to move the level away from the wall. I then put the level against a wall and there was no grip at all.

I thought maybe there was a part missing, so I called Black & Decker and talked with a service representative. She said that she was unfamiliar with the level since it is a brand new product. She would contact the hand tool design department regarding my question and get back with me.

She called back a couple days later and said that she had talked with the a manager in the hand tool department and his only comment was that there were no missing parts and the term Gecko in their advertising did not mean that the level would stick to a surface. The service representative then went and got a level, read the descriptions on it and totally agreed with me. It does not work as advertised. I told her that I thought it was false advertising and I would return it to Home Depot. She totally agreed with me.
So, if you are still interested in purchasing this level, I recommend going to Home Depot and check it out first.

I really like the Gecko, however, it is only good for hanging items that are on the larger size. If you're hanging small frames, this tool won't help you. The three levels in the center prevent you from marking anything with holes/hangers that are smaller than about 8-9 inches apart. I still like it, I just wish I could use it for smaller items that I want to hang.

This level worked great for hanging most of my large frames. The only problem I found was for smaller frames (<16"). The Accu marks are not able to move close enough. Otherwise, I would recommend it.
