I looked high and low for this in local stores, but never could find one. So, I finally ordered one for me and one for my Dad on Amazon. I was a little scared because at the time, it had quite a few negative reviews. But, I was surprised to see that it worked so well. You can move the sliders easily, they do stay in place, and Gecko Grip works well. If you're expecting Gecko Grip to stick the level to the wall without you holding it, then you're misled. There's two spring-loaded plastic pads, but this just allows the rubberized pads to make better contact with the wall. Especially with uneven walls like mine.Customer Review: Great Level

Moved into a new apt, and needed to put up some new shelves for the place. Previously I didn't have a level and I just eyed it (i know.. brilliant...) and that was just a disaster. so at the new place i decided to get a level. after reading the mixed reviews (but mostly good) on amazon, i decided to give it a try. at the time i got it for 15 bux, which was a win win situation anyway.
the level arrived and i was very excited to try it out, and i was slightly disappointed because the two hooks for my shelve were 32" apart so the two 'markers' were not able to reach both points. however this did indicate it's for frames and art works etc, but just keep in mind that for really long items the marking device is useless. but i resolved by drawing a thin, leveled, pencil line and drilled into that.
however, the level has a great weight, long, and of course the Gecko device helped, and i was able to get the level to level exactly where i want it. due to the weight and steadiness i was able to be precise and not move the level too far. I used it to put up my shelves, my new kitchen hanging unit, with much ease and they look great.
this is excellent for my first level, and it should be more than sufficient for most home-improvement projects.

This is a great tool for hanging pictures, shelves, towel bars, toilet paper holders just about anything that needs two marking points, you can make the marking points accurate and level every time, The only improvement that the tool needs is some sort of steel pin on the back of the accumark sliding bracket piece to make the marking points on the wall this would work great and you would not even need to reach for a pencil.Customer Review: Great for hanging pictures!

This level is great for hanging pictures as well as transferring measurements to wall when creating a level line. Works so well, that I gave two of them as Christmas gifts.
