Tools and Hardware Reviews of Black & Decker D2030 Auto-Off Digital Advantage Iron

Customer Review: A good value for the price
Summary: 4 Stars

I use my iron daily for custom window treatments, alterations and work shirts. It has held up well so far and does a good job at all types of ironing. The ONLY thing I don't like is that the temperature dial is easily turned and located just below the hand grip, so I end up changing the setting by accident while ironing. However, I still think this iron is better than any of the three Rowentas I have bought previously, and at a fraction of the cost.

Customer Review: A good value!
Summary: 5 Stars

We have had expensive irons before (Rowenta), but this one is as good or better, espcially for the price! This thing serves up constant steam during ironing, and has a good amount of "blast" steam when you want it. Overall, it's comfortable and filling it with water is easy and it heats VERY quickly. When the Rowenta died, we got a B&D D2020 model from a local store for $45. It was hard to turn on and change temperature because the slim selector button on the top had to be pushed into the iron's casing... clearly a design flaw. When I saw this D2030 on Amazon for $5 less, I ordered it. What a difference! The digital display actually says "ready" when the required temperature is reached whereas the D2020 model simply stops flashing when it's ready... is but a small detail, but its nice to have that extra confirmation. Also, the temperature selector button that is so hard to push on the D2020 has been modified on the D2030 so that it's easy to push. Overall, this iron comes highly recommended. One minor fault... If you let the iron go to "sleep" by not using it for a few minutes, you have to push the temperature selector button to turn it back on. This causes the temperature selector to increment by one; you have to push it a few more times to cycle through the temperature selections to get your original setting back.

Customer Review: A great iron
Summary: 5 Stars

This new iron was so much better than the one I had before. It took some study of the instructions to see how to operate it, but am totally satisfied with its performance. Easy to fill with water, moves easily on fabric, and stable when on-ended.

Customer Review: A great purchase
Summary: 5 Stars

I read about this iron in the Consumer Information magazine. Since we were in need of a new iron, I purchased one. Consumer Info was correct about the iron. It is without a doubt the best iron I have ever owned. It's only drawback would be its weight. It is a little heavier than others I have had. But its performance is much better. So it is worth it.

Customer Review: A hot iron
Summary: 5 Stars

So far so good. I haven't bought a new iron in 20 years, when I bought one at a flea market that was probably 20 years old then. It was the old heavy kind, and I doubted if a "new-fangled" one would be as good. But alas, it is. Very fast warm-up, and has a substantial feel, which is what so many new irons seems to lack.
