Tools and Hardware Reviews of Black & Decker HT018 3.0 amp 18-Inch Electric Dual Action Hedge TrimmerCustomer Review: Excellent Summary: 4 Stars
The clipper works great. It made fast work of numerous bushes that needed trimming. Worked so well I even clipped the chord:) Definitely worth the investment.
Customer Review: GLAD MY OLD ONE BROKE Summary: 5 Stars
Great trimmer at a good price. My old one broke B&D 20+ years old. I was NOT looking to buy a trimmer but my wife thinks the old one was a chainsaw. I'm glad she broke it, the new one cuts with dual action at twice the speed. I was a little worried when I got home and saw the bright orange box at the door. It was taped with clear tape and the box was broken right were the blade started. If ordering one of these units have it marked as a gift so as to conseal its contents and maybe better packaging. Mine was not broken and works like a charm. No vibration like the old one, tingling fingers. Wear gloves, glasses and earplugs for safty and an orange cord if you have one, it's easier to see in the greenery. Put your name on it right away, the guy next door will be over in the morning to borrow it. A 4 hour job in a little more than an hour. For a home owner you just have to love this machine.
Customer Review: Good Cutter for small stuff Summary: 4 Stars
The trimmer worked very well on the small stuff but on limbs 3/8 of an inch it locked up. If I knew this I would have bought a stronger trimmer.
Customer Review: Good Budget Trimmer Summary: 5 Stars
My 35 year old Sears hedge trimmer finally died, so it was time to buy a new one. After comparing price and features, I settled on this model from Black & Decker. It was the right price, and comes with a feature I really wanted - a "dual-action" blade, which means it trims from both sides. My old trimmer also had this feature, and it makes trimming bushes a lot easier.
Assembling it was easy enough. I had one problem: When I plugged it in the first time to test it, nothing happened. I fretted about it for a time, muttered a few oaths, until I realized what was going on. The trimmer has a safety feature - the handle jerks into automatic shut-off if it encounters a solid object. The handle had shifted into the shut-off position during shipment. Once I figured that out and reset the handle, the trimmer worked fine.
As for operation, it's light to hold and cuts nicely. It sure runs quieter than did my old trimmer! The 18" blade is the right length for trimming my bushes. Like any trimmer, don't forget to spray a little WD-40 on the blade from time to time.
I'm pleased with it. If you're looking for a budget trimmer which meets the needs of an average yard, consider this one.
Customer Review: Good hedge trimmer Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered this hedge trimmer & it arrived in a broken box. Nothing was broken but it worried me. I have used it & it's blade is sharp & the length makes it easy to use. It has plenty of power. My only concern is that I would have hoped that it came with a plastic blade covering for storage.
