Tools and Hardware Reviews of Black & Decker HT018 3.0 amp 18-Inch Electric Dual Action Hedge TrimmerCustomer Review: Good value Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this trimmer for my dad on the recommendation of my mom. Dad says the trimmer works great and is just the right size for the light duty applications he is typically doing. Although cordless trimmers offer easy flexibility over those with a cord, you have to ask yourself if you want to worry about charging and maintaining a battery if you only use the trimmer a couple of times a year. I say if your yard is small enough that you can reach all your shrubbery with a normal size extension cord, you should go the corded route. In that case, this is a good choice for the money.
Customer Review: Great Appliance Summary: 5 Stars
I have used this trimmer only one time due to bad weather conditions in this area. I am delighted with the ease of the trimmer's cutting ability and the quickness of cutting down a large amount of vines etc.
Customer Review: Great Trimmer. Nice power. Summary: 5 Stars
I should have bought this a long time ago, instead of suffering with hand clippers all of those years. It definitely does the job, lots of power and low vibration. I have 4 different type shrubs I used it on, plus two 6ft ficus tree's and a 8ft citrus tree. It trimmed all of them with very few problems. Some of the new growth "Green" citrus branches where over 1/2 in. thick, and it went right through them. However you will have a problem cutting though old growth "Brown" branches close to this size. Fortunately for me I had very few large old growth branches to cut. All and all it worked out well for me, and cut my work time by more than half.
This trimmer is quite comfortable to work with, it's not to heavy and the handles are positioned where they are comfortable to hold. The low vibration of these clippers help in the comfort factor. I did not feel overly fatigued even after working with it for a fairly long time.
Unfortunately as some of the other reviewers I managed to cut my extension cord also, it's not that hard to do. Now I wrap the cord around my neck with the long end over my shoulder and behind me. Plus of course pay more attention as to where it is.
Also it's a good idea to lubricate the blades often, I do it every 20 minutes or so, and again when I am finished with it.
However if I had it to do over again, I would consider the B&G Trimmer with the 20in blade. That would give me a bit more reach and the extra .08 amp of power would be a nice plus for cutting through the larger old growth branches.
Customer Review: Great cutting action! Summary: 5 Stars
works well and is not too heavy ... very efficient and does a great job! The only thing I would do to improve it is to add some sort of holder hook for the electrical cord so it can remain in place.
Customer Review: Great trimmer at a great price. Summary: 5 Stars
I got my neighbor's branches sticking out over the wall all over the place, found this here and compared it with another one with more horsepower, decided to go with this one thinking it would be good enough for my work and also it was considerably cheaper. Tried it the same day I got it, worked great, had no problem trimming down branches as thick as 3/4" inch in diameter, now my yard looks a lot better than it did.
