Tools and Hardware Reviews of Black & Decker LM175 18-Inch 6-1/2 amp Electric Mower

Customer Review: Beautiful machine
Summary: 4 Stars

I love it. Cuts the grass like butter, quiet as a mouse, and a steal of a deal. It took a few minutes to assemble, you have to get a good extension cord, and I'm not sure if it will last 50 years like some gas mowers (it's made mostly of plastic), but I love it just the same. It's light as a feather, easy to adjust the height, and makes mowing the lawn a joyous delight.

Customer Review: Best Lawn Mowing Ever!
Summary: 5 Stars

When I received my lawn mower, the first time I took it out to mow was great. It only took me about 7 minutes tops to mow-a job I absolutely dread! Now I actually look forward to mowing. It is exactly like a real (gas) mower-cuts like it, if not even better! I have a extremely small yard that doesn't have the best of grass and this is perfect. I would mow with my new mower a yard four times the size of mine with no problem. I highly recommend it. It's great!

Customer Review: Best Mower Ever Owned
Summary: 5 Stars

Ok....

I've owned this thing for 4 years now and I gotta tell you that it is THE best mower I've ever had...I've used it on very small and now a rather large(2200 sqft) yard and the thing performs just as well as ANY gas mower, but with a few advantages...And drawbacks:

* Lightweight
* Quiet
* Little to no limb-numbing vibration
* No exhaust fumes
* Yes, you can wash it off/out with a garden hose
BUT...
* Need to use it like a vacuum cleaner with the cord
* Slightly higher electric bill, which you traded a gas/oil/service bill for, so it evens out

All in all, this thing is the best buy you can buy for your lawn care.

Customer Review: Best little mower yet
Summary: 5 Stars

This may be the best mower I've ever owned. I've owned just about every type and I just gave away a ride-on and a self-propelled gas mower when we moved to a rental house.

The house has a very large yard with a lot of beds and trees and I still love this mower. Total walking to mow the yard is about 3.5 miles and it takes about 2.5 hours. I look at it as exercise.

I've got it running on 200 feet of cord. One cord is 10 guage and the other is 12 so they can easily carry the load for this mower without overheating or taxing the motor.

Cord management is something you get used to. I use different patterns to mow than I would with a gas mower. I try to minimize turns and move away from the cord. I've mowed four times now and I'm getting the hang of it. Getting faster.

I got a hose reel to wind up the cord so it's always neat, I can roll it around back and cleanup is a breeze.

I hang the mower on the wall of the garage after wiping it clean. It's lighweight so I can push it with one hand when I need to.

I don't smell awful after mowing, I don't have to go and fill the gas can and I don't have to leave it for a week for a tuneup. When gas goes up again in price I'll still be ahead of the game.

No big production to get it started and I know I'm not going to be waking my neighbors if I need to mow on Sunday morning.

It's cut through the tall grass on the first cutting. You go a little slower when the grass is tall. The height adjustment is a single lever which makes it easy.

I would buy this mower again and would recommend it to anyone.

Customer Review: Best value for your money
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had mine for just about 2 years and it works superbly. I'm a landscaper and only use electric tools,...I needed a mower for the clients who still have lawns. This one cuts so neatly that you will like it a lot. Now granted, with electric you give up brute power, as compared to gas, but you can work around that by adjusting the height up for tall grass, then cutting twice. Also, these do work best without a catcher mounted on the side. Looks nice, light weight, smooth running. Thanks a million to the number of folks who took the time to review this mower, as it encouraged me to buy one. I think I've finally become smooth with the extension cord dance too. LOL.
