Black and Decker Electric Mower LM175 is GREAT!
We got this mower to replace our 30 year old B&D electric 6 Amp mower that this one replaces ... the old one is all metal and a little heavier but still runs but the switch cord is a foot or so long and I have to repair it every year or two. This new one has no one foot cord to plug into but a socket so that will not be a problem.
We were debating on the pricer and twice as large 12 Amp model (52 lbs) but with a 1/4 acres lot the 6 Amp is very adequate. After reading all 164 reviews we bought a new one and LOVE IT! It seems like some that those who rated it a 1 had it die the first time they used it... if that happens to you call Amazon ASAP and they will get you a new one!
We did try our neighbors Toro battery powered mower and it was exhausing ... it nearly killed me after mowing 1/4 acres of grass due to the weight of the batteries ... this is so much lighter and easier to maneuver even with a cord.
PROS:
1. Lightweight at 35 lbs: makes the mower easy to maneuver
2. Very Quiet: No ear plugs required
3. Adjustable: a simple, one lever for 6 different heights: 1", 1 ½", 2", 2 ½", 3" and 3 ½".
This is an improvement over our old mower.
4. Warranty: lifetime on the plastic housing and two years on the mower
5. Price: very reasonable and half the price to buy and run vs. a gasoline model
6. Storage: Can store in any position due to no oil or gasoline
7. Female friendly and many reviews here said it was like vacuuming for them
8. Green and less polluting; plus more reliable than a gasoline polluter
9. Great for smaller lots of 1/4 acre or so
10. No maintenance - just sharpen the blade and balance it annually or so
11. No side bagger is needed - many reviewers said it was too small anyway
12. Black and Decker is a very good American corporation to deal with
13. Amazon has a great price with free shipping
CONS:
1. CORD: The cord may get in the way - I use the regular, orange 100 ft extension cord without any problems with amperage with this 6 Amp unit. I do miss the FLIP handle on the old unit which kept the cord out of the way. Over the past 30 years we have cut the cord 4-5 times and I have repaired it each time by stripping the wires and repairing with electrical tape, or purchased a new one for $10-15.
2. ASSEMBLY: Attaching the handle is a challenge for sure! -- the only part you have to put together -- to the body of the mower. The instructions are badly written. So, after 30 minutes I finally installed the handle which you squeeze and put down at a 45 degree, or greater angle so the holes in the handle drop onto the pins (I was not going high enough on my angle). Then, I hit the pins on each side and the handle was installed without the shroud hole covers. Then I undid the handle to slip the retainer rings over the handle on each side and reinstalled the handle ... the photos in the instructions are terrible! Too, I bet you do not even need these "shroud hole covers" as one reviewer said she left them off.
I want to thank all the 164 reviewers for this product on Amazon for helping us make a wise decision. We almost bought the pricer B&D 12 Amp mower that would be over kill for our 1/4 acres of grass, require a heavier duty cord, weigh almost twice as much and use twice the electricity.

This lawnmower arrived as requested. Easy to assembly, It sounds like a vacuum cleaner. Since it's new it cuts beautifully. Avoid trying to cut too high or thick of grass. I really like the light weight.
You can handle the cord but it's a good way to get the mate outside and sweat also by haveing them be the keeper of the cord to keep it from being cut.
If one of your reasons for getting out to mow is to get away from the noise of the mate then handle the cord yourself.

Fantastic little mower!! So easy to start and to use. This is perfect for those of us without a lot of "pull" power. The only drawback are the two little clips that hold the handle in, but luckily, the handle stays in by itself. Otherwise, I HIGHLY recommend it!

A good quiet and efficient mower. The one adjustment for all four wheels is handy, too.
I've had several electric mowers, because they are quieter and less polluting. They have been much more reliable than the gas ones that I used to replace every few years. The electrics seem to last for 10 years plus.
I do miss the flip over handle that my older B &D had. I assumed that all models have that, but this one didn't. I should have researched it a bit more.
