This has been just what I need for controlling patches of weeds. I already had electrical extension cords (mounted on a hose reel), so it was relatively inexpensive. The short blade allows getting into narrow spaces, and the light weight makes it easy to control. Not having gasoline reassures me in storage and turning the machine over. The circular shield around the blade minimizes accumulation of mulch.The mulching feature is so effective that I am happy that I did not order a bag.
Thee was some room for Improvement:
1. The rigid handle makes it very long for storage 2. When it arrived the thread on the eye bolt around the wire was damaged and I replaced it with some difficulty rather than ship it back.3. The grass shield comes off frequently in use (a good safety feature) but it is a pain to reattach. 4. the delivery date was delayed after first announced, although I was given eMail warning of that. These all were minor flaws, and the B&D/Amazon help lines were both on the ball.

I purchased this mower to replace a gas craftsman mower. I am a young 64 y/o woman. I was able to assemble with no problems. It uses an electric cord. I am use to using a cord with my weed eater and blower; so no problem in using with my mower!Easy to use. Beautiful even cut. I will be giving up my gas mower. I fore see me and elctric being together for the next several years.

I received the Black & Decker LM175 Electric Lawn mower. I used it for 10 minutes and it broke down. I was not able to return this mower because I threw out the box that it was shipped in. I took it to the Black & Decker service center and was told that I damaged the lawn mower by running over a rock. I did not run over a rock. The grass that I cut was level and free of rocks. It took 15 days for the lawn mower to be repaired. It is now in working order.
My previous Black & Decker electric lawn mower lasted 5 years without any problems. It was made in the United States. The defective model that I received was made in Mexico.
