The Lopper was received in perfect condition bcause it was very well packaged. Right out of the box this tool performed flawlessly cleaning up storm damage and pruning some trees long overdue for attention. The safety feature of requiring both hands on the handles to make it operate is ingenious and customer minded. The chain cut through 3 inch limbs with ease. Okay, so maybe it was a bit breezy!
Seriously, the Black and Decker Alligator made short work of trimming my trees. The Alligator easily took care of a lot of branches - all sizes. It also took a big bite out of the time it would have normally taken me to get the job done. Half the time and twice the fun (almost)! Can't beat that! The safety features are great. It was a breeze to use (sorry, I couldn't resist!). I also recommend Black & Decker's CHS6000 Handisaw Cordless Powered Hand Saw and the Black & Decker SZ360 3.6-Volt Ni-Cad Cordless Power Scissors. For smaller jobs, like the low handing branches on an evergreen tree, this works wonderful. I didn't give it a full 5 stars because it is prone to "throwin' the chain" if your using it on hard wood branches, i.e. oak. I have a small gas-powered chain saw and also a gas-powered pole saw. The chain saw is heavy to hold up and I didn't need to use the pole saw for most of my pruning. Based on the reviews, I decided to give this product a try. This tool works really great! It's not super heavy and you don't have to mess with gas since it's electric powered. I've been using mine to trim oleanders with some branches 4" thick with no problems. Even with ratchet loppers, it's not always possible to cut the thicker branches and the Alligator Lopper solves this problem. You do have to put oil into a small covered hole but you have to oil and chain saw device. The jaws shield the cutters while closed so it's pretty safe to use.
