My apple trees needed more than the usual prunning this spring. I would use a bow or folding tree saw to cut limbs too large for the hand loppers. Now thats history; this tool does a great job very fast and makes a clean cut. I must use a portable generator for the trees beyond my extention cord to the house power. The Alligator Lopper is a real time saver. Several large shrubs in our yard suffered severe frost damage and needed to be drastically cut back. This job was finished in no time, using this tool. This works very well on small trees and bushes. You do not need to worry about hitting the ground with your blades. I have a small stand of bamboo. Have always had trouble with my regular chainsaw, but this goes through it like a knife through butter.
Operation takes some getting use to, but it works fine and really cuts down on the time needed to trim small jobs.

I used my Alligator Lopper for the first time today and love it. I was surprised at the ease of operation and that it would cut limbs up to 5" in diameter (I think it only recommends 4" though.) After renting a chain saw last year and as a 52yr old woman having trouble starting it I found the Alligator to be perfect to cut down shrubbery and bushes that had thick limbs. My 22yr old nephew stopped by and I showed it to him and he liked it but would prefer a gas powered or rechargable type for the woods. It is ideal for smaller jobs and is a great product for women to use easily.Customer Review: A great product for people who want an extra amount of safety when using a saw

This is very easy to use and SAFE! You have to hold both handles for it to work. The chain is enclosed in a plastic housing. The only downside is that occasionally small pieces of wood can sometimes remain in the "jaws" of the saw and they have to be pulled out. But there is no way I would use a regular chain saw for concern of it jumping from its intended target or spitting out pieces of wood. The return part of the chain has a plastic gaurd at all times and even if there were kick back for some reason, it wouldn't be a concern. This saw is predictable, feels safe, and it helps to maintain my yard very well.
