With a yard full of limbs that need to be cut in order to be picked up in the weekly collection I needed some kind of tool. Using a handsaw took too long and I was afraid of using a chain saw even a small one.
I give this 4 stars because it met the criteria that I had in mind. First, it wasn't too expensive. Second, I could handle it easily even though I am not very strong. Finally, it cut 4" branches smoothly with no jerking or hesitation.
There's lots of trimming that needs to be done and now I can do it.

Whether you're one of those ladies whose husbands won't let you touch 'their' power tools (and yet, you can't get them to clean up the yard themselves) or you're a man who just hates having to dig out the chainsaw for a small job, you'll LOVE this lopper! It is able to cut down close to the ground, so you don't have pesky stumps sticking up when you're done. And it can EASILY cut trees and limbs that are bigger around than a 16 ounce coke bottle. If you can get the jaws around it, it will cut it with no problem. It's lightweight, so it's able to be handled well by someone even if they aren't really strong. And its jaws work under their own power, so you don't have to push or pull on it like you do a chainsaw. I love mine and won't let my husband use it! I am a 54 year old female who loves to do yard work. My son told me about the Black and Decker Alligator Lopper electric chain saw, and thought I ought to get one.
He was right! I bought one after viewing their online video at Black and Decker's Web site, and could not wait to try it out.
I love it! It is so much more maneuverable than even the smaller chain saws. It easily slices through 4" branches.
You do have to get used to how to oil it and take the chain on and off to clean it. When I first started using it, the chain slipped a few times, which can be frustrating, but I think it was just a break-in period.
With the price of gas always going up, it's nice to find an electric product that is powerful enough to do the job.

They work as advertised! I'm very impressed with the level
of safety that was designed into this product. They are comfortable and easy to use. They are not a replacement for a larger, more powerful chain saw for large jobs, but for smaller jobs and pruning, they can't be beat.
