Having opted to buy an electric mower, I believe that I made a good choice. The primary reasons for choosing an electric mower were 1.) I can't tolerate the fumes from gas-powered mowers and 2.)the price of gas keeps going up. Dealing with keeping the power cord away from the blades is a major negative so if you can afford a cordless rechargeable, you may want to consider those. A minor complaint is that the assembly instructions for affixing the handle aren't perfectly clear and the user is left to speculate on whether the 'plastic tabs' are properly inserted. Black & Decker 18-Inch 9 Amp Electric Mulching Mower #MM275
This is a great mower for a small lawn. It is quiet, quite powerful and is easy to push. It has several settings for adjusting the blade height. The only draw back is watching out to make sure you don't run over the power cord while mowing. I would definitely recommend this mower. It is very female friendly!

First of all, the mower was delivered faster than I had expected, especially since I used Super Saver Shipping. It was easy to assemble...took me about 10 minutes tops. I have an upward slope in my backyard, and even with tall unmown grass, the mower was up to the task. I figured it would be a good mower under regular conditions, but it exceeded expectations by handling the hill. In fact, its lack of a gas engine made it lighter and easier to maneuver. At the end of the afternoon, I was pleased with the look of my yard. Make sure you have an ample amount of extension cord and all is well!Customer Review: Cuts grass great

You have to get used to mowing with a cord, which is challenging at first. But this cuts through thick grass just as well as my old gas powered mower did. I also do not have the same grass/gas odor after mowing. I love it! My yard is a quarter acre, which probably makes it much more manageable than a larger yard with this would be.Customer Review: Decent electric mower, affordable package

This is not the best lawnmower I have ever used, it isn't the easiest to use nor the most practical. It has no "bell and whistles", but it is an excellent package for the price paid. As far as the inconvenience of having an electrical cord attached, it is not different than any other electrical lawnmower. The lawnmower lacks power for mowing through tall grass, and it may require more than one pass to get it right, but it gets the work done at a fraction of the cost of many other mowers. I just ordered the side bag attachment, which should make it a bit more convenient.
