Customer Review: Excellent value Summary: 4 Stars
I have a relatively small urban lot, and bought this electric mulching mower last summer when we moved in. The mower arrived within two days, and I was out mowing right away. The mower mulches very well and seems to cut fine. It is not the best mowing performance I have experienced, but is fully adequate. The distance from the front of the mower to the edge of the cutting blade is quite long, so it is difficult to cut in close to walls, fences, etc. This has not been a big issue for me. The mower is fairly light weight and easy to lug out of the basement. The cord is a bit tricky to handle, but not too bad. I did pinch myself several times at first with the power lever, as mentioned by other reviewers, but have not done it in several months. This is a very good value, cheaper than most gas mowers and basically no maintenance other than cleaning and periodic sharpening of the blade.
Customer Review: Good cutter if you can deal with the cable dance Summary: 4 Stars
Actually the mower itself gets 5 points but i was not used to electric mowers, so i gave 4 because of the little inconvenience with the cable. Dealing with cable seemed more of a work than actual mowing in my small end unit townhome lawn. This is very light weight, so you dont feel like putting effort into it while mowing, even when it does not self drive which is case of some gas powered mowers. I cut almost 8 inch grass to 3 inch without any problem. I never tried when wet, but dry grass even taller grass seemed no problem at all for this mower. I would really suggest this mower if you are aware of how to deal with the cable when mowing. May be small length cables are good if you have multiple outlets with in reach.
Customer Review: Good electric lawn mower Summary: 5 Stars
I've had this mower about 1 month. It mowed fine the 3 times I've used it. My previous B&D electric mower lasted about 15-20 years, so I'll comment on durability in about 10 years. The new mower is considerably heavier, but that is due to my choosing, as I ordered the 9 amp instead of the 6.5 amp and I believe the higher amp weighed more. I just couldn't pass up the value of a few dollars more for more power and mulching capability.
Customer Review: Good mower unless you have an uneven lawn Summary: 3 Stars
One of the problems we've found with this mower is that the height adjustment lever will rachet down to the lowest setting half way through cutting the lawn. This happens in a faster timeframe if you have an uneven back lawn that's slightly hilly. Unless you like your grass closely cropped if may be worth checking out other mowers that have better height adjustment levers (for example something that is easy to lock in and not slide out, as what happens with this model). Apart from that its easy to clean although I thought the diagrams in the manual were pretty misleading on the first glance at them.
