This lawnmower is just right for our small city lawn. We had an old gas powered one that belched smoke and made a terrible noise, so this electric one is a great replacement. Cuts great, light, easy to use. Learning to remember the cord is kind of tricky, but so far no cord chops. There was 1 little glitch-the first one delivered didnt work. I have seen this reported in other reviews. But Amazon took it back, had it picked up and the next day there was our new one. Luckily we had saved the box. By way of disclaimer, I ordered this a) because the notion of having a lawn mower delivered to my front door amused me, and b) frequent trips to the likes of Home Depot were worrying me that I was evolving into the exact kind suburban drone that I'd once sworn to avoid at all possible cost.
The lawnmower itself? Fantastic. Exquisite. Never before had the act of trimming 1/4 acre of grass been so gratifying and, dare I say...transcendent. If you in fact own a lawn, and find the idea of walking back and forth across it for hours at a stretch either essential or remotely enjoyable, then buy this mower. Trust me.
You'll never look at your manicured little piece of the world the same way again.
But I digress. It's extremely light, and therefore maneuverable, and as reliable as a simple electric-motor-powered lawn implement can be. It uses a cord, which can require some mid-lawn-mowing agility to avoid cleaving said cord neatly in two, which is only a significant drawback if the beer precedes the yard work.
It will cut through most domestic U.S. grasses, and a variety of hapless small animals, with verve.
It is, in sum, a fine product.

I have bought and tried so many mowers in the past,from 4 stroke gas weed trimmers, to the "Big Wheel" models( Sears and DR). But never an electric mower. After reading all the reviews on Amazon, I decided to try the Black and Decker electric mulching mower. For a small(less than a quarter acre) fairly flat yard, this baby works!Yeah, no more noisy, gas powered machines to disturb my neighbors! This was an Earth Day gift to myself, and I am very pleased with it. The cord is not too much of a problem, if you stay alert and watch your pattern of mowing.
For the price, it's a great deal.If you want to spend more, the cordless model(battery powered) would be the way to go. But really, how can you go wrong w/ any Black & Decker?!

Bought the mower a couple of months ago and have been using it to mow the lawn, typical city lawn attached to a corner individual house. Works well plenty of power and is quiet enough. Problems: When used in chute mode, the chute fell off often when brushing against most anything, the mower is much too heavy, and would be more convienient if it had a flip handle.
