I love this hedge trimmer! I have a fair number of bushes and hedges that need trimming, but always hated having to trim them mainly becuase of the tools. I had a corded model (also a B&D) that cut very well, but the cord was always a real pain -- it always got snagged on something, and I ended up spending more time dealing with the cord than actually trimming. Looked into a gas model, but the weight was an issue, as well as the noise.
The cordless B&D is a fantastic tool! It lets you concentrate on the trimming. Ready to go in a second (no cord to unwind and plug in) and the battery lasts a decent interval. No, it's not an everlasting battery that will run for hours, but that's an easy problem to solve -- just get a second battery so if the first one gives up before you're done, you just pop in another.
Nicely balanced and easy to handle. Highly recommend!!

This is an outstanding product, the 18 volt system has enough power to cut through normal shrubs and the charge lasts 45 min. to 1 hour. I also have the 18 volt B&D string trimmer and between the 2 pieces of equipment I have 3 18 volt batteries and this is enough power to tame any job I would start.

I have yet to purchase a product made by B & D that has met my expectation of standards. Prior to this purchase I had another Brand Cordless with a 24 V rechargeable battery. Afther a couple years of use the motor just stopped and to my disappointment Amazon no longer has the brand so I ordered the B & D. The cutting power of this tool is quite satisfactory - my complaint is the inconvenient switch. First one must slide the safety lock to an open position and then hold it while simultaneously squeezing the trigger which must be held very tightly to engage the micro switch.
Well, To hell with OSHA, the parasitic trial lawyers and all the other dogooders that think they can save mankind from all and every potential hazard. I opened the case (removing about 8 phillips head screws, and modified the trigger switch with some padding so that the micro switch is engaged sooner. I also drilled a nail size hole in the safety lock switch so that by inserting a nail it will hold in the open position. Now my 75 year old hands can operate this machine with much greater ease.
Although this item was made in China - I expect it was engineered by one of our own younger gereration of dumbed down idiots.
Just another example of how our country is on the unstoppable slippery slope to oblivion, not unlike the Roman Empire.
