I've only had a chance to use this tool once, but it had no trouble cutting through smaller limbs. However, you definitely notice a difference in power compared to gasoline models and so I'm sure larger branches will take longer to cut. One thing I did notice is that it doesn't have an automatic chain oiler. Otherwise I already have multiple other tools powered by the 18 volt battery so this tool really fits in well with my tools.Customer Review: Awesome tool. Don't forget chain sharpening! Get batteries on eBay.

Most of the reviews here fail to mention that this IS a chainsaw and therefore has a chain that must be sharpened periodically. Also, if you are trimming fruit trees, don't use regular oil to lube it - use spray cooking oil instead. Less harmful to the tree involved (easier too!). I find that when it is sharp and lubricated, the saw WILL cut 6-inch branches quite nicely.
I have been using mine for 3 years and have never had a problem with it until a power surge fried the battery charger. Go on eBay and get replacement batteries and chargers. They even make a charger that has a radio built in that will run off the rechargeable battery - VERY handy.
Highly recommend this saw.

I found this electric pole saw far easier to use than a Husky gas unit I have. It is half the weight, and reaches about two feet higher than the Husky. It is well balanced, and handles nicely. The battery pack will allow about 25-30 cuts for me; somewhat short of the 70 or so B & D claims (but I am cutting oak, 2"-3" dia. limbs, which is probably not what B & D based its performance on). The only real inconvenience is that it does not have an integral chain oiler; you oil the chain via a supplied squeeze bottle. And keeping the chain oiled is vital to insure its long life. It is perfect for the casual home user; much quieter than a gas unit, no need to worry about keeping a gasoline/oil mix around, no gummed up carb from the lousy gasoline on today's market, and no worry about tuneups and spark plug changes. Just keep the battery charged and you are ready to cut.
