I purchased the Black & Decker NPP2018 cordless pole chain saw for trimming tree limbs in my yard. I chose electric over gas because as a homeowner I don't use this tool enough to fool around with a gas unit. I chose cordless to avoid the restrictions of a cord. This saw performs well enough for a homeowner's tree limbing needs. I've cut off limbs up to at least 6" thick & then used this saw to cut up the limbs into firewood. Using both pole extensions, the saw has a good reach & is not unwieldy to use overhead. Using a single pole extension, cutting up limbs is not ideal, but works OK.
This is not a continuous-duty tool. A single battery charge is sufficient to cut off a dozen to maybe 2 dozen limbs, depending on size. Battery charging is slow - figure overnight. I bought 1 spare battery to extend operation + a spare saw chain. If you don't need the freedom of cordless, a corded saw might be a better choice.
My only complaint is that as the battery runs down, the saw becomes useless as it will keep running but stalls when cutting.

Great for small projects. Battery allows you to cut about 100+ limbs. Another battery recommended for larger jobs and as backup. Tool is slightly heavy so take your time if you have a heart condition.
Double check the tightness on the chain saw. I assumed it was tight but it came off. It is not hard to reattach and the problem was due to my failure to assure that everything was tight.
There are gas powered pruning saws that are heavier but allow longer work cycles.
