The Black & Decker Pole Hedge Trimmer is easy to assemble for use, and comes with a sturdy duffle bag for storage. It's pivoting head is helpful for reaching and shaping hard to reach areas, a necessity for "height challenged" people, like myself.
The battery operation, though nice for not having to drag a cord around, does make the product somewhat on the heavy side (just shy of 10lbs.) for long periods, if the user is slight of build.

5', 5" 165# senior citizen (male) The battery operated pole hedge trimmer is fine for my application. I use it for trimming on a regular basis, not heavy cutting. Overnight battery charge is sufficient for trimming a very long and very tall hedge. B&D should redesign it with the motor in the base handle using a drive string up to the cutter head. Tnis trimmer performed about as I expected. The battery did not run out of power in the 45 minutes I used it, so that was a plus. I was using it to trim under brush especially oriental bloodroot which is a tough vine with stickers on it. I have wild azaelas mixed in with the weeds and the trimmer worked well at getting close to the good bushes without cutting them. It works to about 3-4 feet into the brush, beyond that it gets too heavy (I am fairly strong, my wife could not trim more than a few minutes). All in all, it did what I wanted. I have used it about 45 minutes at a time (twice). I wear out before the battery.Customer Review: Pole trimmer

Works very well. For my use, which is a yard around my home, it is a very good unit. I used it for about 30 min on and off trimming different shrubs with no problem. Works best on hedge type shrubs where the branches aren't to large. The pole extension is great for getting under and over bushes without getting on a ladder. It is a little heavey when reaching out for very long times, but over all user friendly.
