This is ONLY for those shrubs that are up high and you would normally need a latter for, not normal height shrubs. I agree with the other reviewer that they need to make it so you can take the pole off or that tge main handle can telescope. Trying to use this on a normal shrub at knee level is ridiculious. It is too heavy and bulky to swing around for normal hedges. I took this back and got the 22' 18V and I love it.Customer Review: Big disappointment

I was so excited to get this. My hedges are about 10' high and 10' wide. I only need to trim them once or twice a year at the most so it didn't make since to spend the money on a comercial one. Then it came. It is heavy and flimsy. It did reach the center of the hedges that I could not reach with my regular hedge trimmers but, after about five minutes it started to smoke and smell and shut off. I've been waiting my whole adult life for this product. No more hauling around ladders and extention cords to do tall hedges. What used to take an hour now takes 15 minutes. At first it seems heavy and awkward. Once you figure out the balance point it gets better and the padding on the pole helps to get a grip. OK it still feels heavy with the working end way out there on the pole, but putting the battery at the other end makes the balance point right in the middle. Battery life seems generous, unless, of course, you're doing a hedge on Gin Lane in the Hamptons. Another great product from Black & Decker
