Tools and Hardware Reviews of Black & Decker NS118 18-Volt Cordless Electric Broom Hard Surface Sweeper

Customer Review: Bad Battery Contacts?
Summary: 3 Stars

After several uses of this product, the contacts between the removeable batteries and the broom have apparently gotten loose. The power fluctuates and sometimes just shuts off. Putting pressure on the battery resolves the problem, but it's annoying and makes the use of the broom a hassle. Also, battery life for this sort of product is short. It's a good thing that it comes with a spare, because you'll need it for anything other than small jobs. As an earlier review said, hang on to your corded blower.

Customer Review: Bad Run Time
Summary: 3 Stars

I did a lot of research on cordless leaf blowers, and decided that the
B&D NS118 would be the best. One of the most important factors that I did not see on the specs nor did I inquire about was the total run time on the blower before the battery ran down. I went ahead and purchased it. The first time I used it I was disappointed by the short run time. Turns out when I called the company I was told that it was about 12 minutes. If I had known this in the first place, I probably would not have purchased it.

Customer Review: Battery charger
Summary: 3 Stars

This unit comes with a poor battery charger (FS18c ) and if the battery under charge is weak, it will disables the charger. Black and Decker has a superior charger ( FSMVC ) which shows the status of the battery under charge and it does not die no matter how weak the battery might be.

Customer Review: Battery runs out in 10-15 minutes
Summary: 4 Stars

It's a handy tool except that the battery lasts for 10-15 minutes only. So keep 2-3 spare batteries.

Customer Review: Beats an electric model
Summary: 5 Stars

I became so tired of constantly parading around my yard with 100' of cord that I decided to try a cordless model rather than a gas model. The ease of use is great and the extra battery is a plus. The only down side is it does not match the blowing power of my electric. Overall, it was a great investment for me.
